Notes

In S. E. Ledger Book, undated; entered after 1934 - 1935 poems; handwritten. Transcribed by George Howard Pazdral, July 2, 2000.

Transcriber's surmise: Possibly from the Schulenburg years, 1929 to 1934, but possibly in the early years of return to West. This poem probably speaks well for itself: my aunt never married. She had mostly female friends. Devoted spinster daughter, devoted spinster aunt, devoted spinster schoolteacher. But here is the Might Have Been. --GHP, 09/14/2014
