Army. December 12, 1944: Commendation from 1st Cavalry Division, to
the 44th Tank Battalion, for support rendered during the LEYTE, PI
operation.
II. March 13, 1945: Commendation from 1st Cavalry Division, to the
44th Tank Battalion, for distinctive service from 31 January until 12
March during its attachment to the Division from the seizure of
the Cabanatuan Gapan-Baliuag area, to the occupation of Santo
Tomas and the Malancanon, and the bitter fighting in New Manila,
San Juan, and South Manila Areas.
Ill. March 25, 1915 : Commendation from 158th Infantry Regiment, to
Company A, 44th Tank Battalion, for efficient manner in which this
unit contributed to the total distruction of enemy positions in Ba-
tangas, Dagatan; and Cuenca areas of Southern Luzon.

2nd Ind. from Commanding General 11th Airborne Division
IV. April 21, 1915 : Commendation from Ii1th Airborne Division, to
Company B, 14th Tank Battalion, for the reduction of Mt. Macolod
defenses, during which an example of superior military teamwork was
shown.
V. April 28, 1945: Meritorious Service Unit Plaque Award, from XIV
Corps, to Service Company, 44th Tank Battalion, for superior per-
formance in sea vice and maintenance during combat.
VI. June 20, 1945 : Commendation from XIV Corps, to the 44th Tank
Battalion, for the exemplary service rendered by the battalion while
under the XIV Corps, including the liberation of Manila.
SPECIAL COMMENDATION
1. March 12, 1945 : A letter of oppreciation in behalf of the 3,768
American and Allied Civilians interned at Santo Tomas,- to the 44th
Tank Battalion, for the heroic entry into the City of Manila, and
the dramatic liberation of their Camp on the night of February 3,
1915.
