H1N1:
vaccines ready
in mid-October
Continued from page 1
Response Team is follow-
ing the guidelines set up
by the CDC and Texas De-
partment of State Health
Services and is encour-
aging students, faculty
and staff to communicate
about the virus and prac-
tice prevention of the dis-
ease. Hand sanitizers have
also been placed in high
traffic areas around cam-
pus in hopes to increase
sanitation.
CDC.gov lists steps to
prevent the spread of the
H1N1 virus. When sneez-
ing, campus members
should cover their nose
and mouth with a tissue,
then dispose of the tis-
sue after use. They should
also wash their hands with
soap and water or alco-
hol-based cleansers, avoid
touching their eyes, nose
or mouth and try to avoid
contact with sick people.
The website also rec-
ommends that if a person
does experience flu-like
symptoms, they should
remain home for at least
24 hours, unless visiting a
physician.
Students who experi-
ence flu-like symptoms
are encouraged to visit the
Tarleton Student Health
Center. Seasonal flu shots
are available at the Health
Center for $20; however,
2009 H1N1 vaccinations
will not be available until
mid-October.
While no changes to
university operations will
be made at this time due
to H1N1, the university is
prepared to update stu-
dents about possible pan-
demics through a campus-
wide e-mail.

on Oct. 1 or soon after the board approves the building plans, accord-
