The Kerens Bobcat
track team raced to
victory Saturday as
the team scored 155
points to beat Ferris
and Canton by nearly
80 points and capture
the team championsh-
ip for the third ye-
ar.
The most thrilling
race of the day came
in the mile relay
where Kerens, Ferris
and Canton ran side-
by-side during the
race. The team of
Chuck Tolliver, O’N-
eal Burrell, Robert
Betts and Collie Bl-
uitt showed a lot of
heart as they edged
out their district
rivals with a time
of 3.32.
Scotty Bryant picked
up the high point
trophy, scoring 35
points by winning
the long jump; 22'
3 3/L", 100 yard da-
sh, 9.8; 220 yard da-
sh, 22.5 and anchor-
ing the 44 0 yard re-
lay team composed of
Ben Johnson, Lester
Smith, Kenneth Bry-
ant and Scotty Eryant
to victory with a ti-
me of 43.50.
Chuck Tolliver had
a first place in the
2 mile (10.38.89) and
a second place in the
880 yard run with a
time of 2.04.91.
Russell Anderson
won Kerens’ other fi-
rst place finish as
he won the pole vault
with a vault of 11’
6" to finish ahead
of Lawrence Haynes'
second place finish
with 11'.
Kent Jett placed fi-
fth in the shot putt
with a 46’10 1/2”
throw and fourth in
the discus with 135’
2”. Billy Martin pl-
aced fifth in the
discus with 133'4
1/2” and fourth in
the one mile run with
5.09.09 and third in
the 880 yard dash
in 2.07.30.
Kenneth Bryant ran
second in the 100
yard dash, 9.94 and
third in the 200 yard
dash, 10.0k,
Collie Bluitt finis-
hed third in the 44 0
yard dash with 52.35.
The Bobcats will host
the District Track
meet here at 9: 30 Th-
ursday.

will begin at 9:30.
