Skate Night scheduled
A Skate Night sponsored by the
SGA is scheduled for March 27
from 10 p.m. to midnight at the
Carthage Skatarama. The event is
free with student ID.
Field trip offered to students
The Caddo Club is sponsoring a
field trip to the Constructive
Wetlands and the Nature Trail at
Texarkana College on April 6. The
group will have dinner with the
Texarkana College Ecology Club.

Picnic slated
The Caddo Club will hold several
picnics on the new Panola College
property across Panola Street
throughout March and possibly
April. The picnics will feature a
discussion of a possible nature trail
for the property. Everyone
attending must bring his or her own
food. To find out picnic dates call
Becky Gullette, Kevin Rutherford,
Darrell Hudson or any Caddo Club
officer.
Children’s show slated
The PC Drama Department will
present its children’s production
Jack and the Beanstalk on April
24 and 26 at 7 p.m. in the Q.M.
Martin Auditorium. Day perform-
ances are set on April 25, 26, 27
and 30 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tickets
are free for PC students with ID
and $ 1 for everyone else. For more

Caddo Club sets camping trip
The Caddo Club plans to
celebrate Earth Day by going
camping April 19-21. For infor-

Panola CKI chapter garners state awards

Members of the Panola College Circle
K International organization and their
chapter were recognized for their
achievements during the annual Texas-
Oklahoma CKI District Convention in
Galveston recently.
Jamie Conway, Tenaha sophomore and
president of the Panola chapter, received
the Howard H. Hendrick Leadership
Award. This honor, presented annually
to the outstanding chapter president, is
named after State Senator Howard H.
Hendrick, a former Texas-Oklahoma
Kiwanis governor, Kiwanis International
vice president and president, and two-
term CKI district administrator.
“The award recognizes the highest
ideals of leadership and dedication as
have been exhibited by Senator
Hendrick in his service as a member of
the Bethany College CKI and now as a
Kiwanian,” said CKI Governor Michael
Shue.
Conway also was awarded the Texas-
Oklahoma District Caring Corner
Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.
Funds for this scholarship come from the
annual Texas-Oklahoma Kiwanis

PC dramatists
win various
state awards

The Panola College Fine Arts
Department came away from the recent
Texas Junior College Play Festival with
a truckload of honors.
The competition, which included
drama production entries from 14
schools, was held at Tarleton State
University in Stephenville.
In this year’s competition, the
thespians at Panola presented two
selections from Robert Shenkkan’s The
Kentucky Cycle, which won the Pulitzer
Prize for drama in 1993. It contains nine
short plays about the history of
Kentucky (1776-1976).
