Panola College Theatre performs

By Call Callens
The curtain opens
with a tint of blue overcast-
ing the prisoners as their
bodies intertwine. A deaf-
ening boom echoes across
the stage as Don Miguel
Cervantes and Sancho
shuffle into the holding
cell. What is to come of
them, immediate death at
the unmerciful hands of
the prisoners or going up in
the purifying flames of the
Inquisition?
Left with these pos-
sible treacherous fates, Don
Miguel throws himself at
the mercy of the prisoners
and leads them into a world
full of color and imagina-
tion.
The truth of a gang
of prisoners putting on a
madmans show could not
be more intresting. Than all
the characters of Man of La
Mancha.
The cast rehearses for its performance.
Among the many
characters the audience
met down the dusty deso-
late roads of La Mancha
were loose women, scatter-
brained men, a kindly inn-
keeper and his less kindly
wife, gypsies, tramps, and
thieves, an enchanter,
windmills posing as giants,
a risque barber, a pomp-
ous padre, an innocent
housekeeper, a niece and
her fiance looking for their
inheritance.
There is noth-
ing more intresting then
the characters and musical
numbers presented in this
amazing musical composed
by the astounding talents
of Dale Wasserman,Mitch
Leigh, and Joe Darion. To
have missed this show was
to have missed a true Panola
Theatre Production.

When I joined Panola
Colleges theatre program
in the fall of 2008, I never
expected to be where I am
now with such great amazing
friends and Professors that
believe in me and give me the
courage and strength to con-
tinue on each day in pursuit of
my dreams.
I enjoy being a part of the
theatre program and how I feel
such amazing people to make
a show come alive. The first
two shows I was in during the
fall of2008 set me up for what
was to come in my future. The
auditions for the spring Musi-
cal Man of La Mancha.
I anticipated the audi-
tions for Man of La Mancha.
I had listened to the original
soundtrack from the 1965
production and had fallen in
love with this musical.
I didn’t
ground of the story but I knew
I had to be a part of it. So
came the day of auditions and
I walked into the studio ready
for anything. I was nervous
but not enough to notice. I
sang what was instructed to
sing for the auditions and
waited.
Later that evening I re-
turned to see how the casting
turned out.To my unexpected
surprise I was cast as Pedro,
the muleteer: A devil of a man
who could care less about and February we brought our
