OF THE MEMBERSHIP
In accordance with Article VII, Section 1 of the 12th Armored Division Association constitution, and Article III,
Section 2 of the Bylaws, and with the support of the Executive Council, President Ken Klinedinst has called for
a Special Meeting of the membership for the purpose of voting on two proposed amendments to the constitution:
Article IV, Section 1: Election of officers/directors by mail ballot, and Article VII, Section 1 Amendments to the
constitution by mail ballot. Both amendments were proposed at the annual meeting in Arlington, VA, but were not
The results of the voting in August were very close. Had proxy votes been permitted, adoption of these amendments
would have been even closer. The Council believes this shows a desire on the part of those members unable to attend
annual meetings to have a voice in their Association, and believes they owe it to the membership to continue the
effort to give them that voice.
More importantly, annual meetings have become increasingly difficult to host because fewer members are able to
attend, and reunion chairs are difficult to find. In the absence of an annual meeting, and without a mail ballot in place,
members cannot elect an Executive Council. This inability to seat a Council would be the end of the Association. This
administration feels it is imperative to ensure the ability of the Association to function in the long-term.
Since no plans presently exist for a National Reunion in 2013, President Ken Klinedinst called for a Special
Meeting of the Membership. He feels it is best to adopt the amendments in the spring, and pilot the procedures of
a mail ballot while we still have an opportunity to evaluate them in Abilene. Further, should the attendees of the
special meeting fail to adopt the proposed amendments, the Council can make another attempt in August. Again,
the members of the Executive Council see the mail ballot amendments as imperative. In the absence of an annual
meeting, only the mail ballot will allow the Association to continue.
This meeting will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 in Concordville, PA, at 11:30 am. This event will coincide
with the Mid-Atlantic Reunion. Consult the registration form for meeting and hotel information. The Executive
Council encourages all available members to attend and participate in this extremely important discussion and vote.

Dear legacy members, thank you for
honoring your loved ones, who are now
known as “The Greatest Generation”.
You escort them to reunions, sit with
their comrades, and listen to the stories of
their escapades as they defeated the Axis
You have inspired many others in the 12th Armored
Division Association by attending the Legacy meetings,
offering engaging ideas, thanking those for their dedication
in researching topics which are unique to your dad, granddad
The Association has aged to the point where it needs your
active involvement. The Association Constitution and By-laws
are written with term limits. To sustain the organization, you
are needed to run for office. With today’s technology many of
our Executive Council meetings are held by conference call
and historically at our annual reunion.
This year’s annual reunion will be in Abilene, TX, home
the 12th Armored Division Memorial Museum. Unless
members of the legacy group step forward, there may not be an
annual reunion in 2013. Peggy Anne Vosseler, our executive
secretary, has developed a “job description” for reunions,
based on Branson, MO, 2010 and Washington, DC, 2011,
and it is available via email, sixtysixthaibn@,vahoo. com. It is
preferred the reunion site be east of the Mississippi River to
maximize the number of attendees.
Please connect me with questions or suggestions.
Regards, Ken Klinedinst
