heightened feeling of thanksgiving for what life and
the island give to us.
City drops
its suit in
legal swap
The City has agreed to drop
its countersuit against 10 Port
Aransas property owners who
filed suit against the City last
month seeking a temporary
injunction to block the City
Council from imposing a hike in
the property tax rate.
In exchange for the City
dropping its suit, according to
City Attorney Mike Morris, the
10 plaintiffs in the original suit
have agreed to drop their motion
for a rehearing of their suit. A
state district judge throe weeks
ago had ruled in favor of the
City Council, refusing to grant
the resquested injunction.
Another lawsuit against the
City is also being dropped as
part of the agreement announc
ed Monday night by Morris.
This one is a lawsuit filed last
January by Dunes Condominium
developer Ralph Durden and the
Council of Co Owners of the

ship service will be held

Presbyterian Church on Alister
St., with the Rev. Jack L Moore
officiating.
A Thanksgiving Eve service
and dinner will take place
Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the
First Baptist Church on Station

The Emergency Medical Ser-
vice (EMS) Auxiliary, sponsor of

took first place in the flounder

and won the Best Catch award.
Third place went to Sabrina
Belcher, fourth place to Debbie
Turnbull and fifth place was won
by Bill Coficld.
The Chili Cook-Off held Satur
day at the Municipal Haibor was
a sunny and entertaining show,
highlighted by mock gunfights
staged by a professional troupe
from San Antonio.
Over a dozen teams competed
in the cook-off. hirst place and
the showmanship award went to

Christi. with Eddie Fettijohn as
