to be subject of display
The board of directors for the
Port Aransas library gave initial
approval at its meeting July 15
for a preliminary study to be
made for an historical display.
The study is to be done by Mary
Packwood and is to be funded by
money approved by the city
council for the library’s use.
Packwood has already present-
ed to the library board an
outlined proposal for the display.
The display will contain photo-
graphs and artifacts that show
or relate to the history of Port
Aransas. The display is to be
located in a high traffic area
where visitors can have easy
access to the presentation.
Betty Ann Gibbs reported to
the board on a workshop that
she, Steve Rabalais and Tiddle
Caylor attended. The workshop
was designed to teach how to go
about collecting early historical
information and documents.
Gibbs said that the information
gathered and the papers pre-
sented at the workshop will be a
great help to those who attend
ed. She said she felt that the
library will benefit in the future
when the special section of the
library housing the information

The board decided on a new
approach to the taping of
historical information by authori-
ties on the history of the island.
The approach will be easier to
those involved and will probably
be accomplished in one or two
interviews conducted before a
fixed camera at the library.
Gibbs is in charge of the taping.
