the name chosen by Mr. and Mrs.
Elroy Trojcak for their new son.
The child born at 7:25 p.m. July
30, weighed 7 pounds and 8 ounces
at birth.
The maternal grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Stauss of
Woodsboro. Paternal grandparents
are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Trojcak
of Refugio.
Charles Dean also has a sister
named Trayce Renee’.

Refugio. — Miss Trayce Renee’
Trojcak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Elroy Trojcak was honored Sun-
day on her first birthday by a
party given in her home at 301
Second Street.
Refreshments of cake and ice
cream were served to 14 guests.
Those attending the party in-
cluded Diane Stauss, Bubba, Ce-
cile, and Anna Ray Perrin, Billy
Myers, Janie, Charlotte, and Ra-
leigh Trojcak, Mr. and Mrs. T.
W. Stauss, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar
Myers, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Trojcak.
Also present at the party was
the honoree’s new brother, Char-
les Dean.
Youth Fellowship
Sponsors Picnic
Refugio. — The Baptist Youth
Fellowship will sponsor a picnic
supper Saturday, August 13, at the
Goliad State Park, in honor of Mr.
and Mrs. Dale Coody, Music and
Educational Director at the First
Baptist Church.
All intermediates and young
people are invited to attend, and
to meet at the church at 5:30 on
Saturday before . leaving for the
picnic.
Mr. and Mrs. Coody- came to
Refugio from the First Baptist
Church in Seagraves, where he
was music and educational direc-
tor.
State American Legion
Meeting Set for Dallas

Dallas. — Three thousand Leg-
ionnaries and Auxiliary members
will assemble here on August 12 -
13 - 14, for their forty-second An-
nual American Legion Convention.
Laurence L. Melton of Dallas, Gen-
eral Cnairman of the Convention,
has announced that all plans are
complete for the largest American
Convention ever held in Texas.
Honorary Chairmen of the Conven-
tion are Past National Comman-
ders of The American Legion Al-
vin M. Owsley of Dallas and S.
Perry Brown of Austin.
A pre-convention highlight will
be The American Legion Junior
Baseball State Championship play-

Legion Teams of Texas. Finals of
the tournament will be played at
Burnett Park on Frinay, August
12.
Department Commsander Donald
I. Peters of Houston will officially
open the State Convention Friday
at 1:30 p.m. in the Ball Room
at the Baker Hotel. National Chap-
lain Rabbi Robert I. Kahn of Hous-
ton will deliver the Memorial Ad-
dress at this session. Congressman
Francis E. Walter of Pennsylva-
nia, Chairman of the House Un-
American Activities Committee,
will be the principal speaker at
this session.
Friday evening, August 12 at 7
p.m. the Parade of Champions
Uniformed Organizations Contest
of The American Legion will be
held at Burnett Field. The State
Championship Baseball play - off
will follow the Contest.
The American Legion Child Wel-
fare Breakfast, Charles Osborn of
Dallas, Cnairman, will be held Sat-
urday at 8 a.m. in the Baker Ho-
tel.
The American Legion Conven-
tion will be called to order at 9:30
a.im., Saturday, by Commander
Peters. At this session the con-
vention will hear Past National
Commander Alvin M. Owsley,
Miss Dorwayne Phelps of Hous-
ton, winner of the State Oratori-
cal Contest; Douglas Warner pf
Tyler, Governor of American Leg-
ion Boys State; and Charles Ba-
con of Kansas City, Missouri.
A feature of the (Saturday morn-
ing session will be “Government
at the Grass Roots which will
be presented by S. Perry Brown,
Past National Commander of The
American Legion.
At the Saturday afternoon ses-
sion the convention will hear Ma-
jor General K. L. Berry of Austin
and National Vice Commander
Willard Brandt of North Dakota.
Reports of Convention Committees
will also be heard.
Saturday evening Department
Commander Donald I. Peters and
Mrs. Agnes George, President of
The American Legion Auxiliary,
will be hosts to all registered de-
legates and their wives at dances
to be held in the Baker Hotel.
The convention will close Sun-
day at noon when officers for the
ensuing year are elected and in-
stalled by out-going Commander
Peters.
