formal opening of the new club bouse of
the Calcasieu Tacht club at Prien lake
will occur this week. A program is be-
ing arranged.
The EpwDrth League of the Lafayette
district has closed its annual convention
after several days' session. J. A. Stock-
well of Lake Charles was elected presi-
dent. A large force of workmen are now re-
pairing the road between Lake Charles
and Bit Lake. Five hundred dollars was
raised for this purpose a few days ago.
The rice harvest in Southwest Loul.l-
ana is now on In full blast. Threshing
will begin in about ten days. The crop

Singleton unmarried and living In Ama-
nita was instantly killed last night when
the Rock Island train on which he was a
fireman was derailed near Tucumcari.
T. E. Easier engineer was bruised some
but sfjt seriously hurt. None of the pas-
sengers was hurt. This is the first wreck
pn the new road connecting Memphis and
Tucumcari.

resolution adopted here today establish-
ing a concordat between Knights Templar
governing bodies Is said by Masons to be
th most Important step taken by the
conclave for many years. The concordat
establishes amicable relations between th
knights of England Ireland Scotland
Canada and the United States and it an
event which has been crystallising for
many years. Its consummation is said to
be the chief object for vhtch the earl of
KuHon pro-grand master of England and
Wales visited the thirty-first triennial
conclave. .
