Undaunted by th chilling blasts which
swept across West End park yesterday
morning th Houston Regular and Colts
engaged In a practice game which re-
sulted In a victory for the Colt by the
score of 16 to 12. The weather was not
such as to get the best result th ther-
mometer being at too low a point and
the heavy wind interfering with the field-
ing and throwing; of th ball.
It was a slugging match all the way
through. The pitcher taking no chance
on letting themselves out. made no at-
tempt to get th ball over with any de-
gree of speed. The result was that the
ball was batted all over the field
Jung a right-handed pitcher who Uvea
at Fredonla Wis. arrived yesterday
morning and at once went Into the game.
He played In left field tor four inning
and then went Into the box. He made a
good Impression as a pitcher. He has an
underhand ball which after he get Into
good hap ought to be effective.
Bankhead was th star at the bat and
his handling of th willow wa a big fac-
tor in the Victory won by Ben Sheltoa'a
team. He wa at bat five time and
lugged the ball for five clean hits on
for three bases. Ha also played a good
game behind the bat.
Burton who probably will be slated to
play second base showed up to especially
good advantara. He had seven assists.
