FACT AND FANCY.
The pray old scholar sat through the
nignt
Witli his telescope trained on the stars:
He marshaled his figures and facts
arltrht.
He reckoned the density distance and
tielKIU
Of the old red planet Mara.
But the dreamer looked from his window
at more;
He saw the trrent orb afar.
And a dream sung clear In his heart
forlorn.
And his soul from the dull old world was
borne
To the realm of the utmost star.
An artist studied a woman fair
And found that her form was rood:
Proper proportion and heluht were there.
The color of eyes rind flesh and hair
All this he understood.
But the lover offered Incense and myrrh.
Anu love east om ms rears;
He saw and knew but the heart of her.
And he wrote a song that made sad
hearts stir
Through the endless flight of rears.

PATRICIA AT THE PRINCE
Was Presented to a Large and
Highly Pleased Audience by
a Capable Cast.
iL-PatricIa" was presented at the Pnncn
last evening by the Knights of Columbus
and the theater was well filled with a
highly pleased audience. The play Is a
story of tho early Christians written by
Rev. Father Felix and was presented
by a most capable cast of young ladles
from the Incarnate Word academy who
had studied hard and had been well
trained In their parts. Miss Beadle as
Patricia won high praise especially with
her song; her well trained voice and ex-
cellent rendering bringing bursts of ap-
plause. As Octavla daugnter of the em-
press and friend of Patricia Miss Lucille
Magee left Mule to be desired entering
Into the part with an Interpretation
which was highly pleasing. Miss Kva
Bell as the Empress Augusta had that
dignity and commanding presence essen
tial to the part and carried her lines tn a
manner which showed much thought and
hard study.
No whit of fault could be found with
the remainder of the cast each going
through with her pan In a manner
which gained commendation from the
audience.
