H. M. Mayo industrial agent of the
Southern Pacific will head the Traffic
club for tie ensuing year if the recom-
mendations of the nominating committee
of that body are carried out. In addition
to the nomination of Mr. Mayo the fol-

Home for Ford Sales Agencies.
A two-story concrete fireproof building
wiii be erected on the north side of Buf-
falo river adjoining the Main street via-
duct for the new home of the Ford Sales
ugenrles. The building will occupy 109
ft-t on the east side of the viaduct and
will extend 81 feet along Wood street.
It is to be constructed of reinforced con-
crete and absolutely fireproof. The plans
are now being drawn by Cooke A Co..

will celebrate a double election at the
club quarters next Tuesday evening. No-
vember 7. One will be the election of
president of the United States. The other
will he the annual election of officers of

To properly observe both events a ban-
quet 'will be given Tuesday evening and
already 125 members have notified Sec-
retary Hugo Neuhaus that they would be

Utterly destitute with nothing to de-
pend upon and deserted by her husband.

perintendent J. W. Lyle for school books
for her three little girls that they might
attend school.
In his rounds looking for truant cases.
Coimtv Truant Officer R. R. Adcoek dis
covered the case of the three little girls
of school age. On looking into the case
he discovered their true condition.
The mother told Mr. Adcoek sbe was
not adverse to sending her children to
school- in fact she was anxious for tem
to go but was not able to buy their booka
She was delighted when st was told
that a way is provided for such cases.
Besides the three little girls of school age.
there is another little girl and a little
boy. The ages of the five children range
from 1J to 3 years.
Mr. Adcoek said that the condition of
the people is bad; they had Insufficient
food and clothing in fact bad none at
all except what was given to them. He
said that the woman showed appearances
of being of good breeding and having a
fairly good education herself.

If hard work on the part of county
school teachers and Superintendent J. W.
Lyle counts for anything Harris county-

amendment to the Texas constitution fix-
ing the maximum school tax of any com

principals of county schools have been
sending out literature on the subject and
a -number of speeches in favor of the
amendment have been made at various

which needs more school money then
provided by a 60 cent on the hundred
tax can't get more money unless it
