board of regents
The seven state colleges are governed by a common Board of Regents.
This committee is made up of lawyers, doctors, business men, and just plain
citizens; in their hands rests the final authority insofar as college administra-
tion is concerned. To them is intrusted the welfare of the vast plants of these
centers of higher learning. Theirs is a difficult and thankless task, and they
should be complimented for their efforts.
Miss Emma Mae Brotze, a graduate of North Texas and principal of Mar-
shall Junior High School, was appointed to the board by Governor Beauford
H. Jester this year. She succeeded S. A. Kerr, Jr. H. K. Mills and Newton S.
Harrell were reappointed to the board. Other members of the board now serv-
ing unexpired terms include William Kerr, president, Sallie Ward Beretta,
V. A. Collins, Melvin C. Eidson, R. L. Thomas, and Walter F. Woodul. Miss
Brotze and Mr. Kerr are not pictured below.
