Opportunity May Be Knocking On Wood

Saturday is almost upon us with
our annual Spring Formal which
will be held out at the park. Saw-
dust is flying, bruised fingers are
busy and paint is being splattered
in preparation for the dance.
The holidays were filled with
gaity and it was good to hear that
everyone had a good ,time. Ouida
Lovell came back with her wed-
ding date planned for late sum-
mer. She will wed Allan Teel of
Corpus Christti.
The A Cappellji Choir will jour-
ney to Austin twice this weekend
to sing, Friday and Saturday. Lois
Bartlett, member of the choir, will
take a singing role in Hazen Lew-
is’ Chamber Opera production of
“Captain Lovelock” next Friday,
April 30.
The championship baseball game i
for the girls will be played next
Tuesday afternoon at 4:30. The In-
dependents and the Alpha Delta Pi
sorority will vie for the title.

Board of Student Publications
is expected to meet next week to
consider applications for posts on
Die three campus printeds. Up to
date three have applied for news-
paper editorship and one for the
annual. No applications have been
received for editor of the South-
western magazine.
Comparatively few gr-?r>e have
reached our ears on the quality
or service of the publications and
those have been justified. We all
want something good to read, and
we all expect to get that some-
thing from our college editors. But
‘'reading is better than ever” can-
not be our motto when we show
little interest in securing ‘‘that
editor we need.”

and we continually cry for better
examples of both. It is possible to
be without either, however, if none
of the seekers is willing to get the
job done himself.
It has been said that editors are

made not born; let's see some en-
thusiasm in creating one. Step into
the fascination of producing a pa-

mirrors the spirit of Southwest-
ern. Apply for the post on which
