get salesman, whether disposing of
automobiles or brushes or vacuum
cleaners, concludes the deal by
leaving the article in the hands of
the purchaser and. the contract is
completed. Not so with life insur-
ance; the purchaser has entered a
mutual contract that should last
as long as he lives. He has obliga-
tions and a duty to perform in pay-
ing premiums in return for the
protection. If he entered the ar-
rangement by over-persuasion he
can terminate it at almost any
time. That is the chief reason for
lapsation.
Talking with one of the active
sales representatives in our So-
ciety, the editor obtained an irifc-
ling of his success when he said,
"‘I talk to the prospect until he
wants the insurance: When he is
ready to fight to sign the applica-
tio<n I know it is a sade. When I
háve to get his signatuře by some
triek I know it is not a sále. The
results shows up in my renewal
commissions.”
We can see some field man right
now saying, “Bosh.” Biut We really
believe that there is no sále unless
the applicant wants to buy. And
if the field maín will analýze his
business he, too, will be convinced
that his best business was that
where he showed the applicant
how to get the insurance that he
needed.

A Correction — SL President
Morris has called our atttention to
a typographical and proof-reading
error in our last iasue. In the third
column on page Z, June 19, 1974
issue of' the' Vestnik, the second
line from the top should háve
read; “good deal of obstruction,”
and not “good deal of eonstruct-
ion.” We regret this error,
