AUTOMOBILE® - He presented
Information and facts concerning
the matter of purchasing automo-
biles for the Society to be ušed on
official business. It was agreed to
postpone consideration to study
the packet of information.
MISCELLANEOUS — It was re-
ported that Bro. Charles Amos,
member of Lodge 24 and owner of
Amos Electric and Texas Líghting
in Temple and Killeen, sponsored
a two-hour welcoming program for
Více President Gebala on K.TON
rádio which resulted in a great
deal of advertising for the SPJST.
The Board expressed appreciation
to Bro. Charles Amos.
MICROFILMING OF SVOBODA
— President Morris informed the
Board that it would not be pos-
sible to get the Svoboda issues mic-
rofilmed under the terms previous-
ly agreed upon. The issues publish-
ed from 1896 to 1912 contained
much of the early SPJST history
and should be preserved for the
benefit of our heritage and pos-
terity.
He was authorized to get in-
formation on microfilming portions
of Svoboda and Obzor as earlier
discussed for hístorical purposes
and it was understood that he
would report to the Board when a
firm price is obtained.
LODGE 103 FLATONIA — A let-
ter concerning the inactive status
of Lodge 103 was read. Vice Presi-
dent Gebala and SFM Silas Smith
tmveled to Flatonia pursuing the
possibility of reactivating the
lodge. It was reported that two
sales representatives háve been ap-
pointed and a speciál meeting of
the membership of Lodge 103 is
set for Nov. 8th.
LETTER — President Morris read
a copy of a letter from the Presi-
dent of Lodge 177, Academy, an-
nouncing a $500 donation by the
lodge to the Academy Schools. The
lodge was highly commended for
this act and several other similar
recent generous contributions.
President Morris' report was ac-
cepted.
STATE YOUTH DIRECTOR’S
WRITTEN REPORT — President
Morris stated that SYD Massey was
out of the statě and would be back
Thursday. He referred to her writ-
ten report and one item in the re-
port was discussed.
SYD Massey’s written report was
accepted.
Vice President Gebala reported
on the following:
Vice President Gebala referred
to the monthly report for sales
covering the period while Secre-
tary-Treasurer Míkeska was in
charge of that department. Sales
were slightly ahead of the previous
year.
SALES INCENTIVE PROGRAM
— He brought up for consideration
the current sales incentives and
referred to the statistics illustrat-
ing that the current incentive pro-
gram does not involve a sufficient
number of our sales representa-
tives. He explained a sales promo-
tion program he is recommending
to replace the current systém.
A motion was adopted that \‘ice
President Gebala’s incentive for-
mula of prizes be approved effec-
tive Jan. lst, 1979.
NEW RKPORTS AND PROCED-
URES — Each Board member was
given a copy of a new DSR activity
report form and a training record
sheet for each sales representative.
The Board requested that the
vice president provide each district
director with a copy of the monthly
activity report of the DSR in his
district.
Vice President Gebala discussed
a pre-filled sample application
form with a detailed list of in-
structions, He remarked that many
of the applications are being re-
ceived improperly completed, re-
sulting in errors and delay in
Processing.
DISTRICT SALES REPRESENTA-
TIVES MEETING — He reported on
the results of his meeting with the
DSRs this past Saturday.
He pointed out the need for an
aggressive training program and
suggested that the Fraternal In-
surance Counselors (FIC) training
program be emphasized. It was de-
termined that action had pre-
viously been taken authorizing the
Supreme Lodge to reimburse a sales
representative for the cost of the
FIC course after it had been satis-
factorily completed.
He presented a request from the
DSRs for 1 percent increase in
overriding commissions. On request
it was stated that the current DSR
commission is 12.5 percent, plus an
additional 5 percent if the quota
is met, for a total of 17.5 percent.
Additionally, 1 percent is paid the
DSR for a sales representatives
banquet. The request for the one
percent increase in overriding com-

mission was discussed and then
tabled.
A motion was adopted that a
statement be made at each dis-
trict sales banquet that the ban-
quet was made possible by a bonus
from the Supreme Lodge.
It was agreed that the vice presi-
denťs Office be directed to require
an accounting of the expenditures
connected with each annual sales
representatives’ banquet, to include
proofs of purchase, as a basis for
future planning.
Vice President Gebala asked each
director for his cooperation and
thanked the Supreme Lodge offi-
cers for their help. *
It was agreed to pay the DSRs
mileage at 15c per mile, lodging,
and the actual cost of meals, up
to $15 for authorized training at
the Home Office.
It was agreed that the SFMs
and DSRs be authorized to attend
the 1978 Texas Fraternal Congress
with usual expense reimbursement.
The proposals for sales repre-
sentatives for 1979 were approved
as presented.
Vice president Gebala’s report
was accepted.
SFM Silas Smith was invited to
report on his activities.
A generál discussion followed
concerning sales.
SFM Eugene' McBride was also
invited to present a report. Vice
President Gebala informed the
Board that SFM McBride began
training on Sept. lst and although
his term as vice president began
one month later,, arrangements
were made that he (Vice President
Gebala) could serve as SFM Mc-
Bride’s immediate supervisor. He
stated that SFM McBride was now
well informed on inter-office pro-
cedures in the Insurance Depart-
ment.
SFM McBride reported on his
training and discussed several
ideas.
Recess for the day was taken.
Secretary - Treasurer Mikeska
then took up several items initiat-
ed while he was in charge of the
Vice Presidenťs Department.
STATE BOARD OF INSURANCE
HEARING — He discussed a hear-
ing in Austin that he attended,
along with Brothers Gebala and
Smith. The hearing concerned pro-
posed legislation to adopt the Life
Insurance Solicitation Model Keg-
ulation in Texas. He briefly ex-
plained the regulation and how it
