Archer County Sheriff’s
Weekly Report
The Sheriff’s Office received
92 Calls for Service during
the past 7 day period. Details
of some of those calls are ex-
plained below. On the day of
this report there were 13 indi-
viduals incarcerated in the Ar-
cher County Jail consisting of
13 men and no women.
On Monday afternoon, a Hol-
liday area resident reported
that someone had accessed his
bank account and withdrew
$510 that was sent via Western
Union to a Wells Fargo account
somewhere in New Mexico.
The man’s account is with a fi-
nancial institution in Oklahoma
and he had no idea who had ac-
cessed the account or who the
money was wired to in New
Mexico. These cases are almost
impossible to solve due to juris-
dictional issues. The FBI who
handles financial crimes that
cross state lines will not inves-
tigate a case involving less than
$50,000. The man was working
with his bank to try and recover
his loss.
On Tuesday after lunch, an
Archer County resident came
into the Sheriff’s Office and
reported that her credit card
number had been used to make
5 transactions over the past
weekend. The charges were
not made by the resident. She
advised that she last used her
card at Sam’s Club in Wichita
Falls a few days earlier. Some
of the transactions are small
amounts which are indicative
of someone testing the card
number to see if a transaction
will go through. Please use cau-
tion when using a credit and/or
debit card to prevent anyone
from getting the card number.
Always use a machine rather
than handing the card to a clerk
if possible. The total loss was
estimated at $426 and change.
On Tuesday afternoon, a
deputy was contacted directly
about a burglary that occurred
sometime over the weekend.
Kickapoo Fish Camp own-
ers reported that someone had
pried open the door to the bait
shop and stolen approximately
$50 from the locked shop. They
discovered the burglary early
Sunday morning when they ar-
rived for business. A witness
has been interviewed and the
deputy is following up on the
case.
On Wednesday afternoon, an
Archer City woman reported
that she had willingly given
her social security check and
income tax return money to
someone who promised her a
car or more money than she had
invested. She got neither. Ar-
cher City Police spoke with the
woman and will follow up with
a report. In this case, the woman
is probably out the money since
she willingly participated. The
woman was also instructed to
fill out the mounds of forms to
report identity theft to the State.
Just before 5 am on Thursday
morning, deputies were noti-
fied by Olney PD that a suspi-
cious vehicle was leaving Olney
and headed toward Archer City.
They requested a deputy check
on the vehicle since it may have
been involved in illegal activ-
ity in Olney. Deputies located
the vehicle at Allsups in Archer
City and checked the two oc-
cupants who gave addresses
in Iowa Park. The vehicle con-
tained clothing and women’s
jewelry and Olney PD was no-
tified of the vehicle’s contents.
They advised to let the subjects
go since they had no reports of
those missing items. Later that
morning, a burglary of a habita-
tion was reported in Olney and
items reported missing matched
the items found in the suspect’s
vehicle from the stop at All sups.
The information on the two oc-
cupants was given to Olney
PD so that warrants for the two
could be issued.
On Friday morning, a deputy
patrolling south of Archer City
encountered two men on an oil
lease who were loading equip-
ment into a pickup. The officer
checked the two men who told
him that they were there to re-
move junk materials at the re-
quest of the owner. The officer
attempted to contact the lease
holder but the number given for
the owner was nonworking. In-
formation on the two men was
obtained for future reference.
Several reports of theft have
been previously reported in the
area. Officers have increased pa-
trol in the hopes of catching oil
field equipment thieves.
On Saturday afternoon, an Ar-
cher City resident living near the
baseball field reported a rooster
that had been staying in her yard
for several days. The resident
described the rooster as red and
gold with blue and green tail
feathers. Other residents in the
area who have chickens were
contacted but no one claimed
the rooster. If you are missing a
rooster please call the Sheriff’s
Office to claim him before he

ends up being someone’s dinner.
On Saturday evening, depu-
ties, DPS, and 1st responders
from Scotland and Windthorst
responded to a one vehicle ac-
cident at the intersection of Hil-
bers and Luig Roads. The female
driver and a child were removed
from the crashed vehicle and
transported to a nearby dairy by
another person before medical
personnel arrived on scene. The
occupants of the vehicle were
checked out and no injuries
were reported. The cause of the
accident is unknown.
Late Saturday evening, a
deputy stopped a vehicle af-
ter the driver failed to stop at a
stop sign near Hwy 25 on the
east side of Archer City. There
were 5 minors in the vehicle
that were checked. Alcohol was
also located in the vehicle and
the driver told officers that he
had purchased the beer at a lo-
cal store. Parents of the minors
were called to pick them up at
the Sheriff’s Office and citations
were issued for Minor in Posses-
sion to all involved.
On Sunday evening, a deputy
patrolling on Hwy 79 south of
Archer City met a motorcycle
travelling southbound toward
Olney running 111 miles per
hours. The deputy turned around
on the bike and had to travel
several miles before it came to
a stop near Falls County Rd.
The driver was checked and his
driver’s license was suspended
for a surcharge due for No Driv-
er’s License. A family member
was following the motorcycle
in another vehicle and stopped
at the scene. The motorcycle
was loaded into the back of the
family member’s pickup and the
driver of the motorcycle was
placed under arrest for Reckless
Driving. He was transported to
the Archer County Jail where he
was released the following day
on bond.
The Imnate Work Crew helped
prepare the park area for the
1st annual Hog Cookoff held
on Saturday, March 8th. Trash
was picked up and designated
areas were marked off for dif-
ferent events. They spent the
better part of the day clearing
brush and trees from a right of
way of a city alley that runs
off Bob White Circle in Archer
City. A fried chicken lunch was
provided by the City of Archer
City and served up by Oodles of
Archer City.
