The second grade sections of ths
local elementary school, under the
direction of their teachers, Mrs. A.
W. Billingsly and Mrs. W. C. Wil-
liams. presented a western folk
dance program at the regular meet-
ing of the Big Lake Grade Parent-
Teacher Association Thursday aft
emoon of last week.
Other features of the afternoon’s
program. Included a style show In
which the homemaking students of
the high school modeled their re
cently completed dresses; talks by
Father Fidelis, rector of the local
Catholic Church, and Miss Daphna
Pritchard, homemaking Instructor.
Father Fidelis spoke on “Freedom
of Education" and “The Standards
of Our Children”, and Miss Pritch-
ard's subject was “Use of Leisure
Hours”.
Mrs. Billingsly's second grade
room won the attendance prize
Second grade mothers served re-
freshments. There were 117 mem-
bers and visitors present.

GRADUATE ASSISTANT
Because of his excellent work as a
graduate student at the University
of Wyoming. Dwaln Carr, son of Mr.
and Mrs. John Carr of Big Lake, has
beefl named graduate assistant In
the wool department for the re-
mainder of the academic year. He
was listed on the honor roll for the
winter quarter, having a straight
"A” report. Carr graduated last
spring from Texas Tech where he
majored In agriculture, and Is now
studying wool grading at the Uni-
versity of Wyoming from which in-
stitution he will receive his mas-
ter’s degree this spring.

ESTABLISHES WAREHOUSE
The 8even-Up Bottling Works of
8an Angelo has established a ware-
house In Big Lake with temporary
headquarters In a building in the
southeast part of town, it has been
learned from Sid Davis, local man-
ager and driver. Mr. Davis stated
that plans call for the erection of a
new warehouse In the near future.
Besides Big Lake, Mr. Davis said
that he will service Osona, Shef-
field, Iraan, McCamey, Rankin, and
Texon, making twice-a-week deliv-
eries to most of the places.
