of the season.
Thus far it’s a two win and two-
lost record for the Pirates. On Nov.
21 the Pirates defeated Howard
Payne College with a 92-87 score.
From Nov. 29-Dec. 2 the Pirates
played three games in Indiana,
losing to Taylor University, Roch-
ester, Indiana 122-114, defeating Fort
Wayne Bible College in Logansport
100-68, and bowing to Indiana Tech
in Peru 118-95.
On Dec. 9 the Pirates journey
to Brown wood to play Howard Pay-
ne College and on Deo. 13-14 to
Fort Worth for the Texas Wesleyan
Tournament.
Another Big State Conference en-
counter comes on Dec. 17 when the
Pirates meet St. Mary’s ^University
in the West Gymnasium on the
Southwestern University campus at
8:00 p.m.

PERU, Ind. Southwestern ran
into a blizzard of baskets here Mon-
day and was snowed under by In-
diana Tech to the tune of 118-95.
The Bucs completed their swing
through Indiana with a 1-2 record.
The Indianans hit an amazing 55
per cent from the floor, with a red-
hot Rony Zigler leading the way
with 26 points, as better than 80
percent of his shots fell through the
hoop.
However, Southwestern did prov-
ide the game’s leading scorer, Jer-
ry Knauff, who hit 27 points in the
lasing cause.
Indiana Tech jumped to an early
14-2, lead and the Pirates could nev-
er catch up. The closest the Bucks
could get was 10 points after inter-
im ssion.
The team was hit hard by the loss
of regular starter Don Dailey, who
suffered a blood clot on the kidney
and had to be hospitalized. He will
bo out of the lineup for a month.

This Saturday night, December 7,
the opening Conference Basketball
game will be played with St. Ed-
wards University in West Gymnas-
ium at 8 p.m. In connection with
this game, a pep rally is scheduled
at 7:15 p.m. in the Main Lounge of
the Union Building to spur the Pi-
rates to victory.
The Union will sponsor a dance
after the game for all Southwestern
and St. Edwards students. “The
Novas”, a band from Lamar Tech,
will provide the music and refresh-
ments will be served.

Pirates Return From Indiana Trip

Southwestern’s Basketball team, return-
ing from their recent trip to Indiana,
where they won one and lost two games
of their schedule in the Hoosier state.
Six of the members of the Pirates squad
are from Indiana, and this was a home-
coming tour for them.

LOGANSPORT, IND. — Fresh-
man Dave Denny warmed up for
his showing before the home folks
by scoring 21 points to lead South-
western to a 100-68 victory over Fort
Wayne Bible College here Saturday
night.
Denny is a native of Peru, Ind.,
where the Pirates faced Indiana Tec
Monday night.
The 100 points was the second
straight game ini which the Pirates
had hit the century figure. They
scored 114 in losing to Taylor Uni-
versity Friday night. The win
brought the Bucs record to 2-1, and
1-1 on their current road trip.
The Pirates pulled away to an 8-0
lead, ar.d led 49-32 by halftime. In
the second half, they pulled even
further away and led by more than
20 points all the rest of the night.
Jim Vance, who is a Logansport
native, was second high scorer for
Southwestern with 12 points.
