...how difficult it is to get business. If we as a people val-
at the truth? Hearsay, the fuel of
gossip, is so rarely true it is inad-
missible in a court of law. Even
though our legal system, fraught
with imperfections as it is, rec-
ognizes hearsay or gossip as un-
trustworthy, we as individuals,
for the most part, are strangely
drawn to gossip. If we don’t gos-
sip, many of us listen to it. Even
worse, it is a terrible temptation
to allow gossip to influence our
beliefs about others. I say temp-
tation only because gossip has
become so much more accepted.
I know of at least one TV
show, ‘TMZ’ it’s called; that
deals in nothing but gossip about
the private lives of celebrities.
Standing in line at the grocery
store makes it nearly impossible
not to have headlines about peo-
ple thrown at you that are noth-
ing more than what should be
personal, private tidbits of oth-
ers’ lives. Can you believe any of
that garbage? I don’t, and feel a
little dirty when my eyes linger
on a headline long enough to reg-
ister comprehension. Sort of like
peering through the window of
someone’s home.
If truth were valued, none of
these media outlets could stay in
ued truth as the precious jewel it
is, people would be flocking to
the Bible as the only source of
unadulterated truth in the uni-
verse. But like a person addicted
to wishful thinking, many of us
would rather be told what we want
to hear. The Bible speaks of this
very thing and calls it ‘itching
ears’. Specifically, in 2nd Timo-
thy chapter 3, it says in the ‘last
days’, meaning those times be-
fore Christ returns and starts the
biggest reset anybody has seen
since the Flood (yes that Flood.
The one where Noah was in the
Ark with his family). In those
‘last days’ the Bible says, many
will be drawn to false teachers
who will satisfy people’s itching
ears. Itching ears means those
folks long to be told a falsehood
so they can continue doing what
pleases them. And the Bible says
all who don’t love the truth, the
truth of Christ, will be damned
(2 Thessalonians chapter 2).
Do you love the truth or do
you love the feeling of itching
ears being satisfied? Go to the
Source of Truth. Let yourself
grow accustomed to His teach-
ings and His ways ...You’ll be
glad you did.

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone
who asks you to give the reason for the hope that
you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
