Castroville. Rev. Dean Lenzen of-

daisies were used in decorating
the church. The music was fur-
nished by the St. Louis church
choir.
The bride was given in mar-
riage by her father. Her dress
was fashioned of bridal satin,
with overskirts of net and hand-
appliqued, imported French lace.
The lace was also used over
white satin waist. She also wore
pearl ear screws, a gift from the
groom, and her mother’s brooch.
Her bouquet was of white roses
and stephanotis.
Mrs. Edwin Zinsmeyer, sister of
the groom, attended the bride as
matron of honor and Miss Helen
Marie Schuchart, cousin of the
bride, was the maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Frances Mario
Boheme, Rosemary Green, and Ved-
ma Wurzbach. Their dresses were
fashioned of pink net over tafetta
and they carried blue carnations.
Conrad Wurzbach attended his
brother as best man and the
groomsmen were Vernon Sehu-
chart, brother of the bride, Ger-
ald Haby and Roy Thompson.
Ring hearer was Patrick Zins-
meyer and ushers were Emmett
Wurzbach and Millard Schuchart.
The bride’s mother chose a pink
salynn dress with navy accessor-
ie and the groom's mother wore
printed silk with black accessories.

May 27. Mrs. Perkins is a senior
student at SWTSC at San Marcos,
while Mr. Perkins is stationed at

ored with a lovely miscellaneous
shower on Thursday evening. May
31, at 8:00 p.m. in the VFW hall
in IgiCoste.
Mixed gladioli were used to dec-
orate the gift table and through-
out the hall. May poles with pas-
tel shaded streamers showered the
gifts. Miss Rihn was escorted to
her seat of honor by her little
nieces. Misses Beverly Harless and
Dorothy Rihn.
.After the bride-elect had open-

and Madelyn Rhin alternated in

Mrs. Kate Mechler presented
the topic on “The American Luth-
eran Church in Canada.”
Hostesses for the afternoon
were Mrs. Clarence Neuman and
Mrs. VV. J. Neater.
Refreshments of ice cream and

Harry Kollman Jr. Mrs. Burell won
the bingo prize.
Refreshments of chicken salad
on lettuce leaf, lady fingers, date
squares and tea were served.

The Thursday Night Bridge
Club met with Mrs. Bob Zerr Jr.,
as hostess. High score prize went
to Mrs. M. A. Rath, second high

Refreshments of chicken salad
sandwiches, pineapple and cheese
salad, potato chips, fudge squares,
and tea were served .

ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT
The engagement of Miss Mary
Louise Decker to Pvt. Craig C.
Wilson of Yancey has been an-
nounced by her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. II. H. Decker.
Pvt. Wilson, who is now sta-
tioned at Ft. Riley. Kansas, is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Wilson,
Yancey.
The wedding date has not been
set.

The newly redecorated home of
Mrs. H. E. Merriman was the set-
ting for a tea Tuesday afternoon
given by Mrs. Merriman and Mrs.
O. A. Fly honoring their daugh-
ters, Mrs. O. G. Wellborn Jr. and
Mrs. Joe Mims, respectively.
Mrs. Merriman received the
guests in a white lace dress over
and aioir*a enraage of aal-
mon colored gladioli, while Mrs.
Fly chose to wear a dress of pink
lace and crepe with a white glad-
iolus. The honorees wore floor
length dresses. Mrs. Mims’ was
green and she used a shoulder
corsage of salmon colored gladioli.
Mrs. Wellborn, in white, wore
pink roses at her waist.
Other members of the house
party were Mrs. O. A. Fly Jr.,
Mrs. Richard Fly, Mrs. Barnitz
Carle, Mrs. Richard Reily, and
Mrs. Jack Mcllvoy.
Large arrangements of white
gladioli and zinnias graced a table
in the living room and the mantle.
Pink roses were used on the cof-
fee table.
In the dining room, where
guests were served assorted cook-
ies and frosted lime punch, salmon
colored gladioli and zinnias form-
ed the centerpiece of the dining
table, which was covered with
white linen.
Mrs. Mims and Mrs. Wellborn
and their families are spending
several days here in the homes of
their parents.

BRUCKS FAMILY REUNION
SUNDAY AT QUIHI GUN CLUB
The children, grandchildren
and great grandchildren of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Otto H. Brucks
gathered at the Quihi Gun Club
grounds on Sunday, June 10, for
a family reunion. Chicken salad,
cake and pie, and cold drinks
were served at noon. The after-
noon was spent playing cards,, fn
conversation and taking pictures.

Mrs. Henry Brucks and sons, Hen-
ry and Horace, and Miss Mary
Lou Weidner of New Braunfels,
Mr. and Mrs. George Brucks and

ICE CREAM SOCIAL PLANNED
BY QUIHI LADIES AID
The Quihi Ladies Aid Society
met at the parish hall on Wednes-
day, June 6, with 25 members
and Mrs. H. H. Saathoff and Mrs.
H. Schunke of Goldthwaite as
guests. Mrs. Saathoff was received
as a new member.
Plans were made to have an ice
cream social at the parish hall, for
the members and their families,
on July 1st at 8 o'clock.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Saathoff
celebrated their silver wedding an-
niversary on June 9 at the St.
Paul’s Lutheran church in Hondo.
Rev. M. J. Lorfing conducted the
Bervice which began at. 11 o’clock.
Mrs. Leroy Miller played the
organ while Mr. and Mrs. Saathoff
marched in, preceded by Mrs.
George Bi uika, who was the flow-
er girl and ring bearer at their
wedding. Mrs. Saathoff wore a
gray, silk print dress with white
accessories and had a white carna-
tion boutonniere. Mrs. Bruck’s cor
sage was of white daisies.
White daisies and lace fern were
used in decorating the church.
Following the service, a barbe-
cue dinner with all the trimmings
was served in the annex of the
church. The centerpiece of the
serving table was a white cake
decorated with pink roses and
"25th Anniversary” in silver.
White candles in crystal holders
and daisies in crystal bowls com-
pleted the decoration of the serv-
ing table.
Some of the closest relatives as-
sisted in serving the dinner. Mrs.
George Brucks served the cake.

REUNION AT BASTROP
DEVINE— The biggest and
best family reunion of the Solloek
families was held on Sunday, June
10, in the State Park at Bastrop.
Relatives from San Antonio,
Houston, Iola and other East Tex-

locks to swell the crowd to some
90 persons.

PLANS WATERMELON FEAST
DEVINE—A watermelon feast,
complimenting the oil field em-
ployees and their families and the
families of the Chamber of Com-
merce members, is set for June 19
at the American Legion Hall on
Highway 173, beginning at 7:30.
Plans were made at the Cham-
ber meeting on June 5. Joe Bris-
coe, chairman of the program com-
mittee, is arranging a short pro-
gram.
