There could be a “brand new you” today! One of the smartest
moves you could make to get the “new you” into motion is to invest
in a new suit. Look for ones with either little short jackets or ’’longish”
ones — nothing in-between if you want to look “new.” Watch for the
below-the-knee skirt, too — most exciting when met by boots.
The one thing the “new you” can not do without is a little white
t shirt to wear under all your lightweight jackets. Have one with or
without “ribs”, and with a buttoned front. It’s an absolute essential and
can do more to make the suits you already own look newer than al-
most anything else this spring.
The next thing to have is at least one toast-colored accessory — a
toast suede pouch, a long scarf to bow-tie, even toast colored legs, and
especially a toast belt.
The shoes to wear with all your suits have a wonderful mixture of
textures: open-weave straw, smooth leather — and they will look “snap-
pier” when you team them with a buttery-soft suede bag.
During the earlier part of the year the “now thing” was to wear
long scarves flowing around your neck. However, the latest “now thing”
is wearing that scarf tied into a big bow — big soft bow-tied scarves
worn under the chin. A suit that would look sensational with the “now”
big bowed scarf is a skinny long jacket and below-the-knee skirt, with
boots coming right up to meet the skirt. The suit is worn with its own
sleeveless sweater.
Also “now” for spring is the two-piece dress, which resembles a
long t-shirt. One such dress might be a crunchy-textured knit in a pale
plaid. It has snug short sleeves, a V-neck and its own matching cardigan
sweater. To make this dress really look super, wear with it some deep-
toned panty-hose and the “now” platform-oxfords.
To compliment the “now” suit, dress and shoes, you’ll find the
“now’ pull-strapped bag or the schoolbag-bag. This has one long center
strap, either pulled tight around the middle or left long to sling over
the shoulder. Texture is big news here, also. Smooth canvas bound
bags, with strips of shiny leather, or nubby linen, like the black and
white top-gathered bag, are most appropriate.
With all the new “now” things you will surely be putting on a
“brand new you” look this spring. This is not the end of the “now”,
it is just the beginning, and we will let you know more about the begin-
ning before it ends!
