★ The Art Department
The Art Department sponsored an
Art Fair on April 23 and an Art Ban-
quet on April 28. The Art Fair in-
cluded face painting, caricatures,
paper flower making and items for
sale. The banquet offered dinner and
a tour of the new art studios in the
new facility. The SPC Community
Choir and speech class students per-
formed the entertainment portion of
the program.

★ Graduation
Graduation was held for SPC
students on Friday, May 8, at 7:00
p.m. at the Municipal Auditorium.
★ Campus Ministry
Area church ministers and com-
munity leaders gathered on April 10
for a banquet provided by the
Friends of Cooperative Ministries in
Higher Education, a coalition of
churches serving the Alamo Com-
munity College District and the
University of Texas at San Antonio.
The banquet celebrated the joint ef-
forts of the coalition and enabled
members to speak of the ac-
complishments and benefits of this
effort.
Margarita Gutierrez, was award-
ed “Student of the Year-Region
VI-TJCSA” by Mr. James Shippy-
Director of Student Activities.
SPC Campus
★ Honors Convocation
More than 400 St. Philip’s College
students who made the best of possi-
ble grades were recognized during
the Honors Convocation on April 10.
The keynote speaker for the con-
vocation was Marynell Maloney, at-
torney with the law firm of Maloney
and Maloney.
Members of the SPC Student Ministry Association attended the banquet
and shared their comments on the benefits of the ministry. Daniel
Reeson-President, Larry Sorenson, Brother John Lydon-Staff, and Dar-
rell Neinest.

On April 23, the Students Award
Assembly was held to honor over
100 students in the Heritage Room
presentation.

Mr. James Shippy, Director of
Student Activities has accepted a
position with San Jacinto College -
