CLASSIFIED COLUMN
|850 a month—It shows a ratio of two
to one In fayor of the historians. The
San At/tonio team has been together
for nearly two months, the Orange
team about two weeks, there is a
marked difference In the playing put
up by both sides. Kit her San Antonio
has a bum team or has ond of the first
class.
And San Antonio ha* the best team
of any In the Texas League right now'.
The Dally Light of San Antonio has
the following to say about the Satur-
day game:
San Antonio 2, Orange 0.
One hit of a rather scratch variety
and no runs at all were tho donations
of one Mr. Robb yesterday to the fund
of Orange baseball Information. Six
sessions did the Oranges seek in vain
for cue lone safety slap, but It was
not forthcoming until the seventh and
was then a scrawny one.
The Bronchos hit often enough, but
Mason kept them scattered through
the entire route. They biffed through
one at least In every Inning except
one. but they were all more or less
Isolated.
The first mark of the locals came In
the fourth when Everhart heat out a
scratch Single. He lained himself a
bit on the trip, and McMurray took
the sack to run. Mac took the occa-
sion to swipe second, went to third on
Kitchens’ error and slipped across
while Pendleton was making them nail
him at first.
The other mark was posted In the
fifth when Collins after two outs ram-
bled to first on four remote ones. He
stole second and cooled off while the
pitcher was winding up. Then came
the premier slam of the day. Griggs
hooked one of Mason's slants and
rubbed It on the center field fence
just too low for a round trip, but high
enough for two and to spare. Collins
walked home on it. „
Griggs romiied off with the sticking
honors hands down. Klllough came to
second with Hfo safe ones, and the
other three were scattered-
Orange was atrlctly In the running
at all times, but Robb was too re-
served for them. They fielded a nice
game and batted according to their
Mghts—but Robb turned down the
lights.
The official score:
BRONCHOS.
