Not the Kind Ha Wanted.
Professed politicians who have re-
duced public office to an exact science
find the Independent voter a Bad stum-
bling block—a fact which la amusing-
ly disclosed by a story found In the
recent life of the late Oeorge Monro
Grant, the eminent Canadian educator
and and clergyman, saya the Youth’s
Companion.

ald’s life he and Principal Grant, then
the head or Queen's college, met at
dinner at the house of the premier’s
brother-in-law. Prof. Williamson.
“How I wish.” the premier said to
the principal, ’’that yon would be a
steady friend of mine.”
“My dear Sir John,” the principal re-
plied, ”1 have always supported yon
when you were right"
