Madrid, April 8—Bulletin—Four hun-
dred persons were killed or Injured

Cow Bayou Canal Company Received
Three Cars of Fertilizer,
The Cow Bayou Canal company, of
which W. B. Chamber is manager,
has Just received three car loads of
commercial ft^ffifer from the *New
Orleans Chemical and Ouano Manu-
factory. which will be used to fertil-
ize the three thousand acre rice farm
of the company above mentioned.
The three car loads ef fertiliser, com-
prising 82 tons, are being loaded on
barges today and will be towed either
tonight or tomorrow to the canal
warehouae on Cow Bayou This Is
(he largest consignment of fertiliser
ever to to received by any one In
Orange county. The experiment was
made by the Des Moines Rice Canal
company last year, which pr ved to
be very satisfactory and It It said
that the use of the fertilizer wlli make
the land produce from two *o three
sacks to the acre more than It would
without it.

Fort Worth, Texaa. April 8.—Pres-
ident Roosevelt arrived In Fort Worth
shortly before 10 o'clock this morn
lng. The night run from Ssn Antonio

and gave the president a hearty wel-

city council and the Board of Trade

Accepted.
The special raft of timber men
Honed In this paper a day or two ago
as being gotten out for thet dredge
here by W. W. Phillips, ban been
Inspected and accepted by the com-
pany. A great deal of trouble waa
experienced In getting them to their
proper place after they were tied up
