KOUNTZE FIRE
DEPARTMENT DAY
APRIL 1
MEMBERS OF THE KOUNTZE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
Seated, left to right: President, A. F. Norton; Firemen, Aubrey
Mclnnis and Lonnie Frazier, Standing, left to right: Firemen,
Johnny Traugett and Ray Baker; Maintenance Caption, L. A, Hy-
barger; Publicity Chairman, Jack King; Assistant Chief, A. D.
Daniels,
The plans for the big fire
fighting and equipment demon-
strations to be presented on
Kountze Fire Department Day,
April 1, 1967, have been com-
pleted and are as follows:
The demonstrations will be
presented at 10:30 a.m. and
2:00 p.m. on the large lot next
to C.L. Sowell Lumber Company
on Highway 69 in downtown
Kountze. The demonstrations
will consist of a house fire, bu-
tane fire, oil fire and automobile
fire. These will be fought by
members of the Fire Department
using only Kountze Fire Depart-
ment equipment. The house fire
will be in a 12 x 15 foot house
that will be constructed by mem-
bers of the Fire Department this
weekend at the location. We
are making every effort to make
this house as close to a small
home as possible so that the peo-
ple in attendance can see what
damage would be from fire and
what damage would be from wa-
ter in a fire in their home.
The butane fire will consist of
a " Butane Christmas Tree" which
we feel will be of interest to the
people of the area that use L. P.
gas in their hones. All that see
this demonstration will be able
to see the extreme danger of
L. P. gas and will also see that
their Fire Department is equipp-
ed and trained to handle this type
fire. This will be of interest to
the people that are on natural
gas in that we have transport
tracks passing through our town
day and night. We never know
when an accident v,,:th one of
these tracks will occur and we
must be ready at all times to
protect life and property from
such an accident.
Car fires are not new to the
citizens or the Fire Department.
The department answered several
such fires last year and will de-
monstrate several ways to put
auto fires out.
With oil wells and pits all ar-
ound the area and even in the
city the department feels that it
should be able to handle pit fires.
With the new #3 pumper this be-
comes an easy matter and we
want everyone to witness the
procedure.
The department urges every-
one to attend the demonstrations.
This is not a game and we urge
everyone to witness the proce-
dures. It could save their life in
the future. The KKAS sound
truck will be on hand and a fire-
man will tell exactly what is be-
ing done at all times. Local law
enforcement officers will assist
with traffic. See you at the de-
monstrations on April 1.
