Have you every thought what care is exercised
in the making of good furniture
the Old Cabinet Maker Says
4 Jn making the kind of furniture
J sold in our store each piece of
lumber fs selected and
seasoned for months before it
is used Skillful workmen then cut it and complete
a piece at a time The grain of the wood is treated
to a preparation called a filler then it is sand-
papered and another cost of varnish is given Then
it is again sandpapered and another cost of varnish
is given This is the reason that upon our furniture
there is a lustre that lasts Of course if we simply
sold you furniture regardless of how it was going to
look in a few years from now we could beat our al-
ready low prices We cant afford to sell you anything which
is not proper and right in every way When it is so easy to
misrepresent dont you think it safer to buy at home from
somebody whoknows how to select furniture who you know
is absolutely reliable from somebody upon whom can de
you
pend upon for honest goods A little reflection will show you
that we are right m this particular and a close inspection wilU
prove tbat our prices are lower than you can secure anywhere
else You know that quality counts in furniture for it is some-
thing that you dont buy every day

A Petition to Rev T S Bomar
The following petition was
signed by nearly every member
of the First Baptist Church
JRev T S Bomar Pastor
We the undersigned members
of our church having heard that
it is your intention to resign as
our pastor hasten to express our
deep regrets if such is your
feeling and we desire to say
that we think it will be a great
misfortume to the cause that we
all andyou with us labor in this
place True there has not been
many additions to the church
since you have been with us but
these few additions have been
much more than we have had for
a long time and we feel that if
you leave us now the cause of the
old First Church will be on a
stand still if it does not go down-
hill before we get another pastor
that suits us all and the public
as well as yon do We feel that
the Lord has a work for you to
do here andliope that you will
consider it well before taking
the step Yours truly
Signed by nearly all the mem-
bers of the First Baptist church
And is sincerely hoped by the
First Baptists and Rev Bomars
many friedds here that he will
not send in his resignation be-
cause he is loved and honored
he and his family by every body
that know them and it is hoped
that he will remain with us

Deserving Mission Workers
The Home Mission Society was
hospitably entertained by Mes
damesLeaf and Deware at their
home Monday afternoon 24th
ult a program of which appear-
ed in the last issue of this paper
The ladies of the mission not
only give evidence of their love
and good works at home in their
midst but are aiding in the sup-
port of various institutions
throughout the land for the help
and uplifting of humanity The
Waco Orphanage get an annual
contribution from them also the
Emigrants Home at Galveston
This latter home is for the pur-
pose of assisting emigrants on
their arrival to secure helpful
employment and to shield them
from harmful allurements that
might ensnare them This work
is indeed an inspiration and a
noble example
The social meetings which are
given once a month is a beauti-
ful interpretation of their motto
Let us therefore consider one
another to provoke unto love and
good works for love and con-
sideration for each other is con-
stantly evinced in their midst
Music literature and refresh-
ments constitute attractive pro-
grams for these meetings each
one of which seems unexcelled
except by the last

Herman Max foreman of the

pened to a painful accident some
five weeks ago when a piece of
broken steel was imbedded be-
tween the thumb and first finger
of the left hand and at the time
a large piece was taken out but
the wound would not heal and
recently pained him very much
Thursday afternoon an examina-
tion showed a hard substance in
the wound and the place was
opened by Mr Max himself when
another sliver of steel was taken
out almost as large as a finger-
nail which had been the cause
of so much pain now his hand
does not pain him atall and will
soon get well

Several loud reports last Fri-
day afternoon brought out quite
a crowd to see what caused the
shooting but it proved to be
dynamiting a large stump on the
site where the new bank building
is to be erected It took a num-
ber of small charges to destroy
the stump and a perfect show of
small pieces of the stump were
scattered for about 200 feet or
more in every direction but
finally they had to dig out the
larger part of it
