Dr Rankin at Jefferson
The speaking was held in the
school auditorium Wednesday
night on account of a light rain
which fell in the afternoon
Some of the best citizenship
of the county and town filled the
seating capacity and many stood
at the windows A large num
ber of men old and young were
present some cdming more
thanten miles to hear the gifted
speaker Dr Eankin
W B Preston County Chair
man was in charge
A song from a number of the
best voices in the city was the
opening then a prayer by Eev
J C Crippen who invoked bles
sings on the meeting and the
speakers
Eecitation by little Miss Geo
Keese Vote as You Pray solo
by Mr Shaw Tribble Have
Courage to Say No Song by
choir
Hon L S Schluter introdu-
ced Dr Eankin and in his re-
marks paid a glowing tribute to
that brilliant minister and ora-
tor who more than met the ex-
pectations of all who had assem-
bled to hear him and his dis-
course was met with freqtent
applause
Dr Eankins talk was on the
evils of thesaloon that not one
good word could be said in its
defense It was a destroyer of
men their homes and would de-
stroy the State by its power over
those in high positions He had
fought this evil way back in 1887
and was still fighting it and that
the saloon crowd hated him be-
cause he was their most bitter
foe His talk throughout was
logical and showed that a Christ-
ian man could not be for saloons
and against the best interests of
his home and the State His
argument Do you endorse the
open saloon and its environ-
ments in Texas or do you oppose
it and he showed by plain
stated facts and questions that
you could not endorse them
As stated by one who heard him
his talk was unanswerable
Dr Eankin paid a glowing trib-
ute to our departed Hon D B
Culberson and Hon J H Be-
gan that was greeted with much
applause He expressed him-
self that Statewide would carry
by a good majority if the voters
in the dry territory did their duty
on July22
Dr Eankin is a fine speaker
and it is felt that he did much
good in his talk Wednesday night
While here he was the guest of
Eev and Mrs H J Hayes at the
Methodist parsonage
Mr and Mrs SP Stringfellow
received a message Tuesday an-
nouncing the death of their little
granddaughter Jessie Lee at
the home of her parents Mr and
Mrs Jesse Stringfellow at Som
merville that morning Mrs
Stringfellow Aline and Norris
and Mrs Jeff Benefieldwere call-
ed home from Daingerfield where
they were visiting relatives by
the sad news that afternoon but
as Mrs Stringfellow could not
make connection Miss Ethel and
brother Sam left on No 5 to at
tend the funeral which took place
Wednesday Little Jessie Lee
was nearly two years old and had
been sick from teething for sev
eral months but was much better
and her death was a great shock
to the family here who idolized
her The Jimplecute joins with
friends in sympathy to the be-
reaved family

DONT SHOCK YOUR
LIVERWIIH CALOMEL
Dodsons Liver Tone Pursuades It to
Work Naturally and Safely
No Restrictions of
Habit or Diet
If you have a sick horse you
cannot make him work by beat-
ing him and if you try it you are
liable to ruin him forever Its
the same way with the liver
When it becomes torpid and slug
gish you take calomel and whip
it into action but the calomel
will leave your body weaker and
sicker than ever Calomel is a-
very powerful chemical made
from mercury
A perfect substitute for calo-
mel that has all its medecinal
properties with none of its dan-
gerous and uncertain followups
is Dodsons Liver Tone
TheEexall Drug Store sells
Dodsons Liver Tone with the
guarantee that if you dont find
it a perfect substitute for calo-
mel this store will give you
your money back Dodsons
Liver Tone is a true tonic for
the liver purely vegetable and
with such a pleasant taste that it
is no trouble to get children to
take it It is absolutely impos-
sible for it to do anyone any
harm because it simply per-
suades the liver to do what it
ought to do no more and no
less
