HE EVILS OF
CONSTIPATION
Everyone Knows When He is Consti-
pated and Everyone Should Know
the Risk He is Running When
He Fails to Promptly
Correct it
Aay Disease Epidemic or Otherwise to
Which He or She May be Exposed
is Sure to Result Seriously
There ore two ways to remove consti-
pation the wrong way is to drench the
bowels with a powerful griping drastic
cathartic that injures the coating of the
bowel channels and produces an early
return of the trouble in a more chronic
form The right way is to use a natural
easy and mild laxative that tones up and
strengthens the bowels and leaves a
healthful influence behind it Prickly
Ash Bitters will empty the bowels just
as thoroughly as the harsher cathartics
and combines all the tonic and strength-
ening properties necessary to perma-
nently cure the habit
Accept no substitute Insist on having
the genuine prickly Ash Bitters with the

listening to fine singing dinner
was served All weie convinced
that the people of that community
have plenty to cat There was
not much singing in the afternoon
on account of the rain which
came up about 3 oclock and caus-
ed the people to return to their
homes but a number of them got
somewhat sprinkled before they
reached their destination

Editors Herald As we never
ce anything from this corner of
the world will hand in a few dots
this week
Health of the community is very
good
Crops arc looking better since
the recent rains
Fanners arc busj hustling the
boll weevil We think we can
beat any of the stories told of the
boll weevil yet Last night while
at supper I was startled to hear a
piping voice across the table ask-
ing for the syrup On looking we
bilious crops looking so well
With the corn crop far better
than was expected one month ago
I feel safe in saying that Black-
foot will make a line crop of corn
Grass is also very fine and seems
to be growing faster than crops
Health of the community is
fairly good Your humble scribe
was in bed sick three days the
past week but he is all right now
Mr J W Lsbcll and wife of
the Bradford neighborhood were
visiting relatives here Saturday
and Sunday
Mrs Ola Williams of Ellis coun-
ty is visiting her parents Mr and
Mrs J E Fitzgerald and we
understand she will make quite a
lengthy visit This is the first
time she has been in this vicinity
since she left it a tyridc about four
months ago
It is with regret that we an-
nounce the sudden death of Mrs
Parish which occurred yesterday
afternoon about 2 oclock Mrs
Parish was just up from an attack
of typhoid fever She ate dinner
at 12 oclock and in a very short
time complained of a very severe
headache and became unconscious
at once She died without being
able to speak Mrs Parish was
a native of Bedford county Va
and came to Texas with her hus-
band James Parish about 30
years ago and has lived in Ander
son county since that time Mrs
Parish was a noble woman and a
christian having been a member
of the Methodist Episcopal church
since she was a school girl She
was a woman of fine intelligence
and was what is known as a true
Southern woman of the old type
Her maiden name was Adams
She belonged to the Adams fam-
ily of Virginia who have been
prominently connected with the
tate since the revolutionary war
She was fifty years seven months
and ten days old Mrs parish
leaves a husband and four chil
dren besides a host of friends all
over the count to mourn her
loss It always seems harder to
give up those who arc truly good
than those who are not If her
husband and children will only
follow her example in their daily
life there is a time coming when
they will join her and be an un-
broken family in Heaven

will try and give the dots from
Pert No weddings or deaths to
report The late rains have made
crops get a move on themselves
Fresh land corn is good Cotton
looks promising hut as the boll
weevil has put in his appearance
it is hard to guess at the outcome
In last weeks issue of the Ad-
vocate we noticed in large letters
Boll Weevil Cure The Advo-
cate spoke of a test made by Mr
Lcc Berryman of paris green on
live weevils at Fox Co s store
and says the experiment was em-
inently successful and advised
the fanners to use paris green to
save the crops As the writer was
an eye witness to the experiment
I will tell how the lest was made
jo the farmers may know how to
apply the remedy Mr Berryman
placed the live weevils in a bottle
and rounded up several cotton
blooms and forms in a little heap
and then sprinkled paris green on
them he then took a lead pencil
and mixed thoroughly and placed
them in a bottle on tup of the
live weevils and corked the bottle
The Advocate reported next day
they were sitre dead As to
whether this is a fair test or not I
will leave it for the reader to say
1 will f ay however there is no
risk to run in getting a good mule
or horse poisoned with paris green
by using it in this way
Elder Pace of Brushy Creek
preached atMt Vernon yesterday
to a large crowd and announced
that he would begin a protracted
meeting at that place the second
Sunday in July He stated that
it would be the next day after the
election and if called upon would
preach the funeral of dead candi-
dates
A E Holland left a few days
ago for Huntsville to attend the
State summer normal School-
teachers are as thick as candidates
in these parts There seems to
be a growing demand for lady
teachers Their tender care has
more influence for good over the
minds of the little fellows than
some men such should not be the
case The school room is in a
large measure the place to develop
character and if the teacher is of
a worldly mind and habits bad
results will follow But on the
other hand if the teacher has re-
spect for all things that are holy
just and good and strive to im-
press upon the minds of the
young the thought of a higher
and nobler life good will come
