Alvin Effison, 75, was 6orn on Octo6er 5, 1938, in (Brazos County to D.W.
Effison and Ponine Wefs. fde &parted this ife at his home on Friday,
December 20t, 2013. 7fe refocated to San Antonio at an earfy age after the foss
of his parents. 7fe was raise! 6y his aunt andunce, Wifton J. andABerthine
(Boxie. f-e accepted Christ at an earfy age. Jfe went to public school and
graduated from Wheatfey .7igh School, in 1957. In 1959, he met Effa Murphy
who he married in 1960. Alvin and Effa were happily married for 53 years;
from this union, two chiffren were 6orn. Karen Denise, and Anthony Keith.
f-e workedseverafjo6s in department stores in downtown San Antonio then
fater he 6egan maintenance work with the Linden Company which ownef
several apartment competes, from which he retiredfin 2003.
Afvin enjoyed aff types of sports, his favorite was fishing, 6asket6aff and
foot6af l-fe was a dedicatedfSpurs andfCowboy fan. Win or fose he foved his
Spurs and Cowboys. 'Upon his retirement, he partnered with his wife's travel
agency, Liaison Trave 'They attended many conferences and traveled
worldwife. fe fiveaf afuff fife andffovedfsociafizing, most of aff he foved his
famiy. (During his retirement he enjoyed staying busy working around his
home, as weff as assisting family and friends with their home repairs. f-e was
considered to 6e the family's handyman. [Many of his smaff projects became
major ones, no matter how fong it woufd take, he woufleventuaffy get the job
fone.
Afvin is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Ernest Effison, David
Effison, and (Donaf Effison. Sfe leaves to cherish his memory his moving wife,
Effa. Chidren: Karen ana Anthony (Trish). grandchidren: Bryan Reynofs,
Simone (Daniefs, Asia Effison. Great grandchitren: (Befa Reynofds, andi
Layfa (eynofds. Brothers: george Wes (Thema), [McCoy L. Effison, Wifton
-. Boxie. Brother-in-laws: Efwoo [Murphy Jr. (Josie), Cfarence Murphy
(e6bie). Sister-in-laws: Annie Spruefl, and Liz Effison andla host of aunts,
uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
