Roy godey Sr was born to Louis and Rosie 'Fofey godfey on January 21, 1921.
In fhis earfy fife, Hoy met Lena Marie Evans (eceased) and was united in hofy
matrimony. This union was blessed with four chlifren, Roy Godley Jr.;
)fred Godey; Doris Marie Godkey, and Joyce Marie godey (eceased).
1e was then unitedin hofy matrimony to Ada Mae Davis (Deceased) and
this union was blessed with three children; Mary Lee godey; James Edward
godfey (Deceased) and- ormna Lee godley.
Later in life oy was unitedlin hofy matrimony to Ruby Booker Johnson and
her two sons; MicftaefAlan Johnson andt Kenneth Pauf Johnson.
Deacon ROy godfey was affectionately known to members of his famiy as;
Mr. Roy, Daddfy, Dad grampa, gramps, (Pop, Oncfe Roy, Unce filomp,
Deacon. and "Thompy".
Roy was a master automobie mechanic. 1e used his occupation as a mechanic
to do his work for the master, many times fixing people cars an[ directing them
to the one who could not onfyfir their car but could alsofix. their fife (the
great fifer) "Jesus"
[Many years ago, as a member of the Memoria(laptist Church, Roy was put on
triaffor a deacon, testedl6y chosen men of God and with the saying on of their
hands; ie was ordainedlas a deacon. [1e syng the gospel message with the
memoriafgospefsingers that evolvedlinto the Mt. Rose gospefSingers andfrom
there the group changed their name into the Sensationahffarmonizers of
San Antonio, 'leas. 1e travefedlup anddown the highway with his famiy
singing the gospel message.
