Around Town
Miss Vicki Strawn, of Semin
ole, visited with the C. M. Brocks^
during rodeo week, and partici-*
pated in the barrell contest.
She was joined by her mother,
Jean, and sister, Linda, the lat-
ter part of the week. They re-
turned home, after visiting oth-
er relatives in Houston, and the
valley. Linda will enter Texas
•Tech in Lubbock this fall, and'
Jean will resume her school
teaching duties in Seminole,
where Vickie is a student.
Mr. and Mrs. Duren Bell and
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Shawver are
vacationing this week. They are
touring the state of Arkansas.
They left last Thursday and
plan to return the latter part
of this week.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Morris and
their family, accompanied by
Andy Smith, spent from Friday
evening until Sunday evening on
Possum Kingdom lake. They
were joined by the Charles Mc-
Daniels on Saturday.
Last Sunday I voted to close
the Church; not maliciously or
intentionally, but thoughtlessly,
lazy, indifferently.
I voted to close its doors that
its witness and its testimony
be stopped. 1 voted to close the
Bible on the pulpit—the Bible
given us by years of struggle
and the blood of martyrs who
died that we might have it. 1
voted for our minister to stop
preaching the glorious truths of
the gospel of Jesus Christ. 1
voted that children of the Sun-
day School no longer be taught
the stories of the Bible and the
songs of salvation and God's
love.
I voted that the voice of
choir and congregation be hush-
ed, no more to join in singing
the great hymns of the Church.
I voted for every missionary to
be called home, every hospital
and dispensary in its foreign
field and at home to close. 1
voted that its colleges no long
er bother to train its youth fo: j
Christian service, that every i
influence for good and right j
and truth in our community be
abandoned. I voted for the
Jarkness of superstituion, the
degrading influence of sin, the
blight of ignorance and the
curse of selfish greed once
again to settle their damning
load on the shoulders of
already overburdened world.
You see, I could have gone
to Church last Sunday, and 1
should have gone, but 1 didn’t.
