GIVIS 90 PINTS
Windthorst Excels
In Blood Donations
Windthorst again topped
their blood goal donation
Saturday. The Red Cross
Bloodmobile Unit collected
90 pints of the life-saving
fluid from eager donors dur-
ing the hours of 10 a.m. to 3
p.m. John P. Schreiber, Jr.,
served as blood chairman.
The quota of 75 pints had
first been set earlier but
later changed to 85 pints.
Ketteler Council 1824,
Knights of Columbus, spon-
sored the drive.
Schreiber was most appre-
ciative to his fellow citizens
for their donation and to all
those who helped in the
volunteer ranks. Schreiber
said, “This was my first
time to chair such a drive
and to donate in my commu-
nity, and 1 have really be-
come aware of the many
ways one can help his fellow
man.”
He noted that of the 90
donating, seven were from
the senior class of Wind-
thorst High School to include
Cynthia Hilbers and Doris
Luig, both first-timers, and
Lois Jean Anderle, Don Pey-
sen, Judy Atchley, Richard
Koetter, and Laura Veiten-
heimer. Loretta Cox, Archer
City senior, also donated.
Seven first-timers also in-
cluded Dara J. Schroeder,
Pamela Ostermann, Debbie
Schroeder, Anna Mae Vei-
tenheimer, Larry Berend,
Johnny Teichman and Tim-
my Humpert.
Ten persons have reached
the gallon-plus with this

Elwood Williams, 515
Walnut, was honored with a
surprise birthday party and
housewarming Saturday. His
children hosted the affair.
Mr. Williams was 86 years
old.

(Pete) Williams, John Wil-
liams. all of Archer City, and
Myrtle Williams of Iowa
Park.
Five generations present
included: Mr. Williams,
Othell Baughman, Libbie
McMinn, Debra Bradley and
Kathey Bradley, all three of
McKinney.

recognized as a three-gallon
donor; Terry Hoffman,
George Veitenheimer, Tom-
my Gene Schroeder, Mrs.
Raymond Hoffman, were all
two-gallon donors; Vincent
Koetter, Edward J. Zihlman,
Wayne Humpert, Oscar Joe
Stallcup and Mrs. Floyd
Humpert were one-gallon
donors.
To date a total of 179 pints
of blood have been collected
from the two drives, with 89
being donated in May of this
year.

Federal Land Bank Loans
Reaches Billion Mark
Harry C. Forbes, man-
ager of the Federal Land
Bank Association of Wichita
Falls, announced today that
the Federal Land Bank of
Houston reached a billion
dollars in loans to Texas
farmers and ranchers on
Nov. 27, 1974.
This represents a mile-
stone in service by the
Federal Land Bank System
to Texas agriculture, and is
a 48 percent increase in
mortgage loans outstanding
during the past two years.
The bank has provided long
term credit to farmers and
ranchers of the state since
1917.
In making this announce-
ment, Forbes stated, “The
capital requirements of
farmers and ranchers have
increased substantially in
recent years and are
expected to continue to in-
crease.” He also empha-
sized the importance of pro-
