Moves To Olnev
J. T. Rawlins, wi’h the assistance
of his assistant, W. A. Tanner, and
various other help, this week packed
his Acme Venetian Blind equipment
and stock ard hied himself off to 01-
ney w*here he planted it in the ware-
house at 232 So. Grand Street former
furniture wareh.ust- of the W. C. Har-
rell Co„ which building Rawlins re-
cently purchased. Rawlins stated that
the chief object of the move was to
get bii factory located more centrally
in his distribution area, which extends
mare or less, from Wichita Falls to
Abilene and from Fort Worth to LuO-
bock.
Rawlins and family will live in
Olney as will W. A. and family as
soon as living quarters are available.

B. & P. W. CLUB MET TUESDAY
T. C. Hoggins was removed tx> his
home Tuesday from a Wichita FalU
hospital where he underwent an, op-
eration a week ago yesterday and is
reportedly recuperating nicely.
Miss Lorraine Brewer and Mrs. Ar-
lie Campbell were hostesses to the
B. & P. W. club Tuesday night at the
heme of the former. Games of rum-
my were enjoyed and high score prize
was awarded Mrs. J. D McCracken,
with consolation going to Miss Geral-
dine ‘Wilhoit. Plans for a style show
to be held in the spring, sponsored by
the club, were discussed.
Others than the aforementioned
present were Mesdames Laura Hick-
erson. Charles McDaniel and Joe Bent- I
ley, and Misses Juanita Locney and I
Robin Harbin.
The St. Patrick’s Day motif was ar-
ranged in tfap refreshment plates of
sandwiches, cake and bot chocolate.

The Christian church here will hold
preaching services each nign: next
week except Saturday with D. A. Holt,
minister, bringing the messages. The
sermons will be on the theme “Ex-
amples of Conversion.”
Services will start at 7:30. The pub-
lic is cordially invited.

Mrs. Arthur Sparkman, and daugh-
ter. Joyce Elaine, of Wichita Falls',
visited Monday with the lady’s par-
en.s Mr. and Mrs. Will Thomas.
A survey made recently of the
student bodies of the state-supported
colleges and universities in Texas re-
vealed that 28 per cent of the stu-
dents are Methodists and this revela
tion has brought about a wide in-
terest on the part cf Me.'hodists in
the “Wesley Foundation” or “student
center” program of Methodism.
This week, by concerted action,
Mpthodist churches of Texas are en-
deavoring to raise $440,000 f:r build-
ing student centers, at eleven of the
thirteen state schools and for en-
larging the centers already in exis-
tence at the two others. These centers
provide the 14.000 Methodist students,
among other things, opportunity to
j take Bible courses for degree credit
under direction of their own church.
A reeen.ly passed state law requires
the church to furnish the building for
such instruction.
The Archer City Methodist Church
was assigned a quota cf $446, which
the church is raising this week, under
direction of James W. Harvey cam-
paign chairman. There are thirteen
Methodist young people from Archer
City a.tending state schools.
Roland Busby, cf Megargel. was at-
tending business matters in the coun-
ty seat Tuesday.

J. D. McCracken was at home the-
past week-end from Dallas where no
is attending a mortuary school. His
wife took him back to school Mon-
day and returned home that night to
her duties as secretary of the local
Soil Conservation Service.

week by Miss Eleanor Burney, her
brother. W. B. (Dub) Burney, ser-
iously injured recently in an oil field |
mishap near Odessa, is still showing
splendid improvement.

Little Miss Phoebe Hays, of Olney,
spent the past week-end with her
grandparents, the T. L. Hiltons, in
Otis city.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hcrany, of this
city, and Mr, and Mrs. Ray Horany.
of Olney, spent last Thursday with
Mrs. H. Wehha. in the Crowell hos-
pital where she was taken Wednes-
day, having received a broken hip
when she tripped and fell on the floor
at the home of her son, Fred Wohba.
Mrs. Horany remained with the Weh-
ba family until Sunday evening. Thb
aged injured lady was reported rest-
ing fairly well.

Edgar Thomas was over today from
his Black Fiat farm and ranch.
Mrs. R. D. Hinsley underwent an
emergency appendectomy last Thurs-
day in a Wichita Fails hospital where
*he was rushed immediately after ex-
amination and diagnosis by Dr. Har-
old L. •Smitson here. Peritonitis had
set in by the time she was operated.
She is reported doing nicely at the
home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs.
John Richey, in this city.
M. Norris, of Holliday, has com-
pleted negotiations for the sale of his
real estate holdings, etc., in rhat town
and is now moving to his recently
purchased carrot farm near Welasco,
in the Rio Grande Valley.
Mrs. Alice Roberts was at home
here a few days this week, returning
Wednesday to the home of her sister.
Mrs. John Conners, south of Anarene,
who has been ill for some time.
Mrs. James Currie and young
daughters. Dorothy Ann and Carolyn
Frances, of Dallas, are visiting their
respective parents and grandparents.
Mr. and Mrs. Seth Duren, and sister
and auntie. Miss Frances Mae Duren.

family Sunday and returned home,
while they will remain for two week*.
Miss Money Wilson received word
Monday that her niece, Mrs. J. T.
O’Toole, and infant daughter. Nicki.
had on that day arrived at Manila en
route to Okinawa where the husband
and father, Capt. O’Toole, is now sta-
tioned. The captain met his family
in Manila and accompanied them back
to the isle. >
Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Spradlin, of
Megargel, visited last Friday night
with their daugh'er and husband, Mr.
and Mrs. T. L. Hilton, in this city.
Mis® Beverly Birrell, registered
nurse at the Archer Hospital, spent
the past week-end at her home in
'Waynesville. Mo. She has been de-
layed on her return trip due to car
trouble, but is expected back within
the next few days. ,

Mr. and Mrs. Zack Gosler and
young son. Zackie, arrived February
1 from Aurora. Oregon, where Zack
had been employed by J. T. Miller in
water well digging. Zack is now ma-
chinist in the I. W. Hickerson weld-
ing shop in this city.
Chris: Hospital solarium in Cincinat-
ti, Ohio. No word h3s since been re
ceived as to her condition since the
operation.

Mrs. Jessie Daniel, of Ori'h. Texas
visited jhe past week-end in the home
of her aunt, Mrs. Lydia Brewer, and
daughter. Lorraine. Mesdames Daniel
and Brewer, along with the former’s
two daughters, Mrs. Vida Wainseott,
of Wichita Falls, and Mrs. Kelly Eb-
erhart. of Orth, were Saturday all-
day guests of Mrs. Daniel’s former
friend. Mrs. Claude Harris and hus-
bard in this city. Another friend, Mrs.
E. E. Threet, also dropped in Satur-
day p. m. for a spell of chatting.
Mr. and Mrs. Adam Wolf, of near
Gainesville, spent the past week-end
with their respective home-folk, the
Anton Wolf family and* the Will
Schroeder family, in Windthcrst. The
lady remained for an extended stay
with her aged mother. Mrs. Schroeder.

age from the Gospel of St. Luke.

votional for the afternoon session.
Mrs. M. H. Salyer gave the closing
prayer. •

ATTEND AREA MEET AT SPUR
Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Conner took
five iocal FHA girls to Spur, Texas,
Saturday where these young future
homemakers attended a meeting of
the area FHA. In the business session.
Miss Jacqueline Hart, of this City,
was elected vice-president of the area
organization. Others in attendance
were Misses Dorothy Heard. Joyce
Prideaux, Bonnie Kiel and Peggy
Fletcher.
The next area meeting will be held
in Lamesai Texas, in November, at
which time the local 'heme ec teacher.
Mrs. Conner, hopes to persuade the
organization to hold their spring
gathering in Archer City.
