DEFEATS OLNEY R. A.’s
The Royal Ambassadors of the
First Baptist Church in this city
dewned the Olney Baptist R. A.s 13-0
last Sa'urday morning in a football
game in Olney.
In this, their first matched game,
the locals who made the touchdowns
were Pat Knox, right half, and Harry
Ballowe, fullback. Other first string-
ers who displayed skill were Tom
Alonzo, left half; Joe Douglas, quar-
erback; Junior Wakefield, center;
Merle Bowen and W. A. Newsom,
guards; Randolph Norman and Ben-
nie Canada, tackles; and Billy Lin-
scott and Bobby McGriff, ends.
MISS BfeRNADINE HEMMI AND
JEROME BEREND UNITED
Jerome Berend, son of Mr. and
Mn=. Anton Berend of Windthorst,
were married Wednesday morning.
Opt. 26, to Miss Bernadine Hemmi,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Hemmi of Scotland.
The nuptial service was performed
at St. Boniface Catholic Church at
8 o'clock in the morning with Rev.
Herman Redder, pastor, officiating.
Clerks at the ceremony were the
bride’s and groom’s bro hers, Arthur
Hemmi and Martin Berend, with
cousins, Albert Hilbers, Chris Hem-
mi and Anton Berend as assistants.

local stadium Saturday, Nov. 12, 2

When the truckload of young’uns
returned to this city last Saturday
p. m.. an incessant cry of “we beat
Olney” resounded throughout the vil-
lage streets.

MORE DENTISTS NEEDED
IN ARMY AIR FORCE
In order to alleviate the shortage
cf dental officers in the Air Force,
150 senior dental students will be en-
rolled as second lieutenants, Air
Force Medical Service Corps Reserve,
on active duty and will receive such
pay and allowances during the re-
mainder of the senior year, Major
Waye Hall, commanding officer cf
the Abilene U. S. Army and U S.
Air Force Recruiting Station dis-
closed today. “Immediately upc-n
graduation,” Major Hall continued,
“those accepted fer a reserve will
terminate their Air Force Medical
Service Corps appointment and accept
an appointment as first lieutenant,
Air Force Dental Corps Reserve. The
officer will then serve two years on
active duty.”
All eligible senior students cur-
rently enrolled in dental schools ap-
proved by the Secretary of the Air
Force may apply for this program.
Each candidate must be a citizen of
the United States, have reached his
2lit birthday and not have passed his
32nd birthdav on date of appointment

The bride wore a formal wedding
gown of white bridal satin fashioneu
with a pointed baeque bodice and
long fitted sleeves which extended to
to points over 'her bands. A drop yoke
of sheer flowered lace, edged with
rhinestones and centered with white
satin buttons and a full gathered
skirt of floor length. She wore a veil
of white birdal illusion falling from
a crown cf orange blossomr and seed
pearls. Her cascade bouquet, lily of
the valley and yellow rose buds, fell
from atop her prayer book.
For something new was her prayer
book, a gift from the groom.
For something old. were the satin
streamers from her mother's bouquet
of twenty-three years ago. Her some-
thing borrowed, was the veil from her
sister. Her something blue were the
rhinestones on her grown. The gown
was designed by her aunt, Miss Lec-na
Hemmi.
Miss Margaret Berend, sister of
th groom, attended the bride as
maid of honor and Miss Maryline
Edler as bridesmaid. Their gowns
were of white net over yellow satin
with sweetheart neckline and short
puff sleeves and full gathered skirts.
Their bouqpets were of yellow car-
nations.
William Hemmi, brother cf the
bride, was best man and Harold Ber-
end, brother of the groom, was
