Phyllis Campbell, president of
the Archer City High School Li-
brary Club, was a candidate for
the office of historian of the Tex-
as-Teen-Age Library Club Asso-
ciation at the organization’s annual
convention in Waco, February 24

nominated from all over the state.
She was defeated by a few votes
by a candidate from New Boston.
Other local club members who
attended the convention were Jane
Perdue, Bennie Lou Williams and

“Books, Libraries and You” was
the theme of the seventh annual
meeting of the TTALA. The theme
of the program on Friday after-
noon was “Libraries: Past, Present,
Future.”
The delegates and their spon-
sors attended a “fun frolic” supper
in the cafeteria of the Waco High
School Friday night. After the sup-
per, the Genheimer Service Club
of Waco High School presented a
variety show, “Lucy Leaps.” Music
during the intermission of the
show, which was held in the high
school gymnasium, was furnished
by a band composed of Waco High
School students and directed by

in the gym on Saturday morning,
consisted of the annual business,
meeting at which the officers for
the coming year were elected.
Galveston was announced as the
place for the convention next year.
The Archer City delegation visit-
ed the Armstrong-Browning Li-
brary on the campus of Baylor
University while they were in Wa-
co.

Mr. and Mrs. Boy Heard visited
Sunday with the lady’s folk, Mr.
and Mrs. W. M. Curry, in Mineral
Wells.
Construction began this week on
a new home for the Currys in this
city, next door south to the Heards.
As you will have noted, Mr. Cur-
ry is a retired newspaper man and
a series of his editorials is now
running in The News.

oil, gas and other mineral lease
or leases upon the interest of said
county in the aforesaid land, or
any part or parts thereof, are here-
by notified to present a bid or
bids therefor to said Commission-
ers’ Court at the said time and
place, and all parties interested
in contesting the leasing of such
land or any bid or bids received
by said Court therefor are hereby
notified to be present at such time
and place when and where they
may do so.

Development of Oil, Ges end Other
Minerals.
Notice is hereby given, that the
Commissioners’ Court of the Coun-
ty of Archer, Texas, by its order
and resolution duly adopted and
passed on the 27th day of Febru-
ary, 1956, found that it was advis-
able to make and execute an oil,
gas and other mineral lease or
leases, with pooling provisions, on
all of the interest (believed to be
an undivided 33/192 of The Coun-
ty of Archer, Texas, in the follow-
ing described land located in Ar-
Archer County, Texas, to-wit:
All “of Block No. 121 of the John
W. Harris Subdivision of the Club
Ranch, being part of the Anderson
Ray Survey, Abstract No. 352, ac-
cording to the plat of said subdi-
division as recorded in Vol. 41,
Page 139, Deed Records of Archer
County, Texas, and including, in
addition to the land so described,
any and ail strips or gores of land
adjoining or adjacent to said land
and owned or claimed by said
County;
and said order and resolution des-
ignated Monday, the 26th day of
March, 1956, at 10 o’clock A. M.,
in the County Court room in the
County Court House of said County
in Archer City, Texas, as the time
and place when and where the
Commissioners’ Court of said Coun-
ty will receive and consider bids
for such oil, gas and other mineral
