Mrs. H. E. Powell checked into
the Nightingale Hospital in El
Campo Monday afternoon where
she underwent surgery Tuesday
morning. Mrs. Powell will be in the
hospital about ten days.
Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Matthes went
to Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Matthes’
fishing camp on Chinquinpin River
for supper Saturday night, where
they were entertaining several
couples from Dallas and Ft. Worth,
who were classmates of Dr. Mat-
ches in Dental School.

Pursuant to an order duly entered
by the Commissioners’ Court of Mat-
agorda County, Texas, on the 7th
day of August, 1961, notice is here-
by given that Matagorda County
will receive and consider sealed
bids for leasing for mineral develop-
ment purposes all of the title and
interest of Matagorda Couniy in
the oil, gus and other minerals
in and under the land situated in
Matagorda County, Texas, and de-
scribed in Exhibit “A”
attached
hereto.
Bids shall be in writing address-
ed to the Commissioners’ Court, ac-
companied by a Cashier’s check pay-
able to this County, for the amount
of bonus consideration offered. Each
bidder shall also submit a proposed
form of lease providing for royalty
of not less than l/8th on oil, gas
and oiher minerals, except $&j)0 per
long ton for sulphur, providing for
an annual delay rental of not less
than $5.00 per acre during the pri-
mary term, which term shall not be
longer than 5 years, and further
containing a “No drilling’’ clause
but that the leased premises shall
be developed by inclusion of all or
any part thereof in a pooled unit
or units under pooling provisions,
which pooling provisions shall meet
the requirements of Article 5421,
Rev. Civil Statutes, said lease not
to contain a “Mother Hubbard” or
warranty clause.
The Commissioners’ Court of this
County will receive and consider
bids for such mineral lease at 10:00
o’clock A. M. on the 11th day of
September, 1061, in the Commission-
ers’ Courtroom of Matagorda Coun-
ty, Texas.
The right is reserved to accept the
bid most advantageous to Mata-
gorda County or to reject any and
all bids.

pects to return to Palacios on

Organized On Aug. 10
The Church of God of Prophecy
Christian Youth Center was organ-
ized Thursday evening, August 10.
The Pastor, Mrs. Dorothy Deadriok
officiated. The following officers
were elected: Paul A. Davis, pres-
ident; Linda D. I.Martinez, vice-pres-
ident; Rosa L. Martinez, secretary-
treasurer; Brenda Sue Haynes, asst,
secy.-treas.; Barbara Davis, corres-
ponding secretary; A. D. Martinez
III, Chm, of Planning Committee;
Barbara Davis, Chm. of Entertain-
ment committee; Archie Davis, Jr.,
Chm. of Recreation Committee.
Their first official entertainment
will be a “Back to School Festival,"
Sunday, August 27, 2 until 6 p. m.
There will be candy, pop, peanuts,
popcorn, popcycles, hotdogs, ham-
burgers, etc, to be purchased at the
concession stands.
Thos. Lionel Deadrick made the
first donation to the Center, a rec-
ord player. The Center will appre-
ciate any other donations for their
Recreational Room. The Center
will be run by the young people
themselves with an adult supervis-
ory committee.
The Center will be open each
week day, 5 until 10 p.m. Saturdays
and Sundays 3 p. m. until 11 p. m.
All young people, especially the
teenagers are cordially invited to
come and enjoy this Center with us.
