modest dwelling house. At
that time only one teacher \vas
employed, and the school en-

we are graced with a $45,000
building which will stand for
ages to come as a monument
to the scholastic interest of the
present Citizens of the thriving
town of Sinton. Also, instead
of one lone teacher we now
have 14 and an enrollment of
546 pupils. In addition to
this, the rural communities are

One of the most important
decisions made in a South Tex-
as court was rendered in the
U. S. District Court for the
Southern District of Texas, sit-
ting at Corpus Christi, last
week. The trial began Tues-
day morning, before a jury,
and was concluded at noon
Friday when Judge Waller T.
Bilans handed down an in-

plaintiffs in the suit, to-wit:
Huston Pasture Company, 486
acres of land, and to the de-
fendahts, Coleman-Fulton Pas-
ture Co/ et ak the remainder
of the survey of 1280 acres of
land.

1839, granted to General Sam
Houston a land certificate for
1280 acres of land for 11
months service in the army.
This -certificate was located
on 1280 acres of land in Poke
county, Texas, but was virtu-
ally declared null and void by
a decision of the Supreme
Court in a similar case, by

The Commercial Club of

lease of life, and has no doubt
done more in the past six
months to promote the general
welfare and prosperity of our
town than it had done in the
preceeding six years.
