Miss Dragoo Complimented
With Kitchen Gadget Shower
Miss Sandra Dragoo, bride-elect
of Ronald Kruger of Odem, was com-
plimented with a gadget shower
Tuesday night, November 23th in
the home of Mrs. Edgar Barr, 716
East Borden Street. Co-hostess was
Miss Susie Barr.
A “Gadget Tree’ was the center
piece of the serving table. It was
made of a tree branch sprayed white
with red bows and various kitchen
gadgets tied to the limbs. A bread
pan served as the base for the tree.
A variety of cookies and cold
drinks were served to Miss Betty
Jenkins, Miss Jo Ann Moss, Miss
Connie Land, Mrs. James Allen Vic-
kers, Miss Cheryl Stalcup, Miss
i^oiuia Roach of Odem, Mrs. J. R.
Standlee, Mrs. Owen Dragoo, the
honoree and the hostesses,
the wedding will take place on

Rehearsal Dinner
Mr. and Mrs. Archie V. Vickers
entertained with a buffet dinner at
their country home after the re-
.learsal for the wedding of their son,
James Allen Vickers and Miss Cyn-
thia Ann Hawkins Saturday night.
The buffet table was centered
with a cascading fall arrangement
of fruit and nuts.
The hostess was assisted by Mrs.
Oscar Mayfield, Mrs. Blake Briscoe
and Mrs W. F. Jones in serving to
Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Hawkins and
children, Rev. Wm. Palmer, Johnny
Hardwick, Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Doty and children, Miss Ginny Ann
Carlisle. Ronald Houser, Miss Vickie
jnscoe, Richard Neely, Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Snody and the bridal
couple.

Miss Cynthia Ann Hawkins,
James Vickers Wed Sunday
Miss Cynthia Ann Hawkins and
James Allen Vickers were married
in a double ring ceremony at the
First Methodist Church here Sunday
afternoon. The Rev. William Palmer,
minister, heard the vows.
Patents of the bride are Mr. and
Mrs L. D. Hawkins and the bride-
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Archie V. Vickers.
The church was decorated with
ba k ts of red poinsettas and seven
branch candelabra, entwined with
holly, holding white Cathedral tap-
ers. Johnny Hardwick and the
bride’s brother, Lynn Hawkins, were
the candelighters.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, was attired in a gown of
white nylon tulle and Chantilly lace
over bridal satin with a bouffant
akirt and a 7-foot train formed with
tiers of Chantilly lace. The lace
>odice was completed with a rolled
ollar and tiny cap sleeves.
Her fingertip veil of silk illusion
was held with an Egyptian head-
dress of seed pearls and satin. She
carried a white "Rainbow Bible top-
ped with a white orchid, sprays of
tephenotis and white satin ribbon.
The couple’s attendants were the
bridegroom’s brother-in-law and sis-
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Doty of
Portland.

in the home of Miss Betty Jenkins.

Miss Hawkins Feted
At Pre-Nuptial Party
Miss Cynthia Hawkins was honor-
ed with a personal shower at the
home of Mrs. Jack Hardwick Friday
night. Mrs. Kenneth Fritz was the
co-hostess.
Decorations in the bride’s chosen
colors of red/iand white, included
fringed red and white covered table
and the centerpiece, a red topiary
tree decorated with miniature bridal
accessories.
Sandwiches and Cokes were serv-
ed to Miss Beverly Light, Miss Lin-
da Preston, Miss Dottie McKinley,
Miss Karen Rittiman, Miss Ginger
Bess Schaefer, Miss Nancy Jean

New Officers For .
Rosary Altar Society
Named At Meeting
The nominating committee of the
Rosary Altar Society announced the
new officers for the coming year at
the meeting Monday night in the
Parish Hall.
New officers are Mrs. Joe Havel-
ka president; Mrs. Ben Matula, vice-
president; Mrs. Adolph Valenta, sec-
retary-reporter; and Mrs. Frank
Vanecek, treasurer.
The Society contributed the final
payment on the stained glass for
the windows In the church.
Present at the meeting were Mrs.
Charles Goynes, Mrs. P. E. Feather-
ling, Mrs. Frank Mokry, Mrs. Ma-
tula, Mrs. Valenta, and Mrs. Vane-
cek.
Wests Entertain
With Open House
Sunday Afternoon
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. West enter-
tained members of the Young Adult
Sunday School Department of the
First Baptist Church with a coffee
at their home Sunday afternoon.
The entertainment rooms were
decorated in the Christmas motif.
The guest register table held a
plate commemorating the old Sod-
ville Baptist Church, a lighted red
taper and an open Bible. Two jewel-
ed Christmas balls hung on red vel-
vet streamers at the picture window.
Mrs. Leon Vorpahl and Miss Jo
Anne McClendon alternated at the
silver coffee service. A single red

mas balls with identical arrange-
ments on smaller baaes formed the
centerpiece. This was accented by
a large red aatin bow with wide
streamers forming the cover for the
table.
Assisting in the house party were
Mrs. Millard Vickers of Taft, and
Mrs. Frank Sunderman and Mrs.
Leo Owen.
HOLIDAY GUBSTS
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Woods of
Jkhnburg were holiday guests of
Mrs. Ainu Phelps and Mr. and Mrs.
Marshall Alexander.
Mr. and Mrs. Alton Bruns and
family spent Wednesday and Thurs-
day in Gonzales with Mrs. A. K.
Bruns.

matching shoes and a leghom hat of
brocade and tulle. Her colonial bou-
quet was of red carnations.
Miss Vickie Briscoe, cousin of the
bridegroom, was the soloist and was
.'companied by Miss Virginia Ann
Carlisle. Ushers were Marshall Tur-
ner, Hughes Thomas, Richard Neel-
y and Charles Snody.
Immediately following the wed-
ding ceremony guests were invited
nto the followship hall of the
church for a reception. Wedding
guests witnessed the traditional cake
cutting ceremony by the bridal cou-
ple. Miss Judy Richter served the
tiered wedding cake, embossed with
spun sugar confections and a minia-
ture bride and groom. Miss Mary
Giebel poured. The bride’s table was
covered with a tiered cloth of nylon
tulle over white taffeta and centered
with an arrangement of white poin-
setta’s and candies in silver candela-
bra. Assisting in the houseparty
were Mrs. Floyd Joseph, Mrs. Jim
Cocke, Mrs. Floyd Jarvis, Mrs. Ken-
neth Fritz, Mrs. Jack Hardwick, Mrs.
Travis Moorman, Miss Louna Dycus,
and Mrs. Frank Kelly.
After a short wedding trip, the
couple will make their home in Sin-
ton. For traveling the bride chose
a honey brown suit, with brown ac-
cessories and a white orchid.
Monday Night Bridge
Club Entertained In
Mrs. Smith's Home
The Monday Night Bridge Club
was hosted by Mrs. E. Merle Smith
at her home December 2nd.
German chocolate pie and coffee
were served by the hostess to Mrs.
Garland Beard, Mrs. J. D. Carlisle,
Mrs. C. A. Richter, Mrs. A. V. Vic-
kers, Mrs. Davis Vickers, Mrs.
George Love, Mrs. Raymond Biggs
and one guest, Mrs. Greg Fannis.
High winner was Mrs. Beard and
Mrs. Carlisle and Mrs. Richter split
bingo.
Mrs. Curry Entertains
Classmates At Her Home
Mrs. Dennis Curry was hostess to
a party for former classmates and
friends at her home Saturday after-
noon.
The hostess served hot chocolate,
Cokes and cookies to Miss Sallie Gor-
don, Miss Sandra Nieman, Mrs
Johnny Rozypal, and Mrs. Dan Has-
wcll, and Mrs. Dan Martin of Aran-
sas Pass, Mrs. Ed Ellis of George-
town, Mrs. Terry Pullin of College
Station, and Mrs. Jimmy Hesseltine
of Ganada.
Methodist Men Hold
"Ladies' Night" Supper
The Methodist Men were hosts to
their wives at a "Ladies’ Night” cov-
ered dish supper Monday evening.
Rev. Bob Cooper, director of the
Campus Christian Fellowship, AAI
College, Kingsville, was guest ppeak
er. Carl Bacon was program chair-
man.
