VK ('ANT recall In nil these
past four years thai Mother
ever com plained about having
no work. In fart she did n't
Kcl a single duj's lay-off.
With Father around the
house and the boys at home
expecting a hot meal at noon
Mother worked an etehieen-hour-shifl
in the kitchen he-
sides doinir all her shopping
"cash and carry" and doubling
as her own cleaning -woman
and laundress - by - the - day.
Above all she worked hard at
keeping the rest of us (heer-
ful and bucking us up about
belter limes.
Well they're here. A least
their rosy hue is recognizable
nround our town! A lot of us
have trouped off to our old ac-
tiv ities glad to be hack in har-
ness. Hut Mother is just where
we left her . . . hitched to a
sink and stove.
Whul aboiii thai electric
clothes wuxher you were joint
la him for her Hie Chrhlma
before Ihe "wauli"? The price
was $1()5 cash. You could call
up the same store today and
get a 1933 model with all the
new "features" for less than
half.
You could buy a vacuum
cleaner at the same saving . . .
and throw in a litth Hiirprtee-
package containing a new au-
tomatic electric iron with four
speeds and a light tireless
stroke for under $5.
These are fiinj'x prices. We
quote them because we think
that today is the time to do
something for Mother. . . . Hut
let's look at this thing from
the money standpoint alone.
Labor-saving appliances are
here to stay. No amount of
"depression" is going lo kill
the demand for theni. They
dropped in price of course.
Hut so did the raw materials
for making them and there
wan no basic value for Ihe hu-
man tabor that entered into
their manufacture.
Today the Nil A has set a
definite value on human la-
bor. The electrical industry
has signed the code and in-
creased pay rolls 38 per cent.
Kvery bit of metal and mica
and porcelain and composition
that enters into an electrical
.appliance has gone up in price
loo. Labor-Havina applianeeK
are foinfj up.
Hut in the meantime there
are still good appliances in lo-
cal stores pi iced at amazingly
low figures . . . about one-third
ihe prices of 1 921)! Now is the
lime lo buy!
UPTURN STEM NO. 7.
Electrical power production
showed a gain of 1 1' be-
tween July 1932 and July
1933.
The udnerilnement in this newspaper will help pou find many wonderful bar-
gains still lo be had in labor-saviny appliance. Head them carefully; be
yuided by whaal they say and act now lo lake advuntuye of present favorable
prices
