Softball Openers
Prove Nig
For Pilchers
A batter’s holiday and a pitcher’s
nightmare . . . that, roughly, was
the story of the opening three
games in the Hereford Softball Lea-
gue this week.
Dawn pounded Wilson of Sunday
School fra 43 runs In the opener last
Monday night. The Saints scratched
out only one run on 3 hits. Dawn’s
Farmers pounded the pitcher for 80
hit* to score their 43-1 run-away.
May and Sheppard were on the
mound for Dawn.
American Legion handled United
Geophysical almost as roughly on
Tuesday night, winning the round
16-1. Black pitched for the legion,
allowing only four hits. Johnson of
United was clipped for 17 hits.
Wednesday night's game between
Sun Oil and Summerfield was al-
most as free-scoring as the opener,
but better balanced. Sun OU won
16 to 11. The Oilers clipped Winkler
and Clark for a total of 14 hits. Haw-
thorn, pitching for Sun, allowed 9
bingles.
Tonight VFW meets High School,
and tomorrow night Firemen meet
