ate, Mr. Westfall introduced a bill
for the incorporation o* the Austin
and Pacific short line railroad com-
pany.
By Mr. Bradley: Providing foi
the drafting of a new constitution
and for submitting the same to the
vote of the people.
By Mr. Hobby: Prescribing the
time for holding the awual seashm
of the Legislature.
A committee was appointed to
take into consideration the questio-
of reducing the judicial districts.
The special order, being the reso-
lution providing for a constitutional
convention, was made the special or-
der for Tuesday next.
The committee in the case of
Priest reported that Jhe same is sub-
ject to the disposal of the two houses,
and the senate may proceed to trial.
Report adopted.
The committee reported favorably
on an act for the relief of justices of
the peace, and on an act defining
the land district of Palo Pinto.
Senate adjourned till Saturday.
In the house a bill was passed
giving premiums for wolf scalps;
prescribing the time of holding Dis-
trict court in the tenth district in
Kaufman on the third Monday m
September, three weeks; Rockwall
on the second Monday in June, two
weeks; to create a lien on livery
stables; regulating the Districtcourt
of Freestone county, that the term
commence April ist, and continue

The army appropriation bill was
considered in the house of Represen-
tatives, on the 4th. Mr. Holman, of
Indiana, offered an amendment, pro-
hibiting payment to land grant rail-
j roads for the transportation of troops
and supplies, leaving to railroads the Woodard street, west of Austin,
iyar denison^.,
between Mr. Hoar and Mr. Holman,
the amendment was adopted.
Another amendment was adopted
abolishing mileage to officers, and
limits hem to their actual travelling
expenses.
These amendments were adopted
in committee, and have to be voted
on again in the house.

on Friday last, and after leaving the
town was overtaken some two or
three miles out by three men on
horseback, who shot some fifteen or
