The Austin Statesman says an o -
dcr lias been issued by the Central
Railroad Company tor the change ol
the gauge of its track from Hemp-
stead to Austin t;> the standard
gauge, four feet eight and a half
inches, and we learn that already
spikes are being distributed along
tne line, and other preparations
made for the change.
A. C. Gray, publisher of the Hous-
ton Daily Telegraph, publishes a
card announcing that, pending some
movements looking to a change in
ti e ownership of the Telegraph, and
its establishment on a firmer basis,
its publication will be suspended foi
a short time. We should regret very
much to lose this valuable paper;
and trnst its suspension will be or
only short duration.
The Washington correspondent of
the St. Louis Times has this to say '
on the situation :
It may be stated without reserve j
that if the tribunal lakes the ultra-
cough often mistaken for consumption.
Sometimes many of these symptoms
attend the disease, at others very few;
but the liver, the largest organ in the
body, is generally the seat ot the disease,
and if not regulated in time, great suffer-
ing, wretchedness and death will ensue.
I can recommend as anetliuadoCis rem
edy for disease ol the liver, heatburn and
dyspepsia, Simmons’ Liver Regulator.
Lewis G. Wunder,
1625 Master Street.
Assistant Postmaster, Philadelphia.
“We httve tested its virtues, personally,
and know that for dyspepsia, biliousness j
and throbbing headache, it is the best ]
medicine the world ever saw. We have
tried forty other remedies before Sim-
mons’ Liver Regulator, but none of them
gave ns more than temporary relief; but
the Regulator not only relieved, hut
cured us."—Ed. Telegraph and Messen-

LABOR-SAVING MAIL BOOK.
We call attention to newspaper men
everywhere to our Labor-Saving Mail
Book. It is the best thing ot the kind
ever invented. It is simple, durable, sys-
tematic, economical and convenient. No
more ugly eiasures! Encourage home en-
terprise and industry!
Every publisher who has used a com-
mon blank book lor a mad hook, knows
thetrodble of changing postoffice ad-
dresses, erasing names, and entering new
ones. Often b> the unsystematic ar-
rangement of the mail hook, subscribers’
names are overlooked in making tip the
regular mail1, which is usually done hor-
ridly, causing disappointment to the sub-
scriber, who desires to get every number
of the paper he has paid for. The in-
tetest of the publisher demands that he
should be very particular in this respect,
which is unavoidable in the old method.
Bv my method accounts can be kept
strictly correct:
