The notorious Lord Gordon shot
himself a few days ago, at his resi-
dence, Headingly, in Manitoba.
Two English detectives arrested
him, and he promised to go quietly
with them if they would not go
through the United States. While
in his room preparing for the jour-
ney he blew out his brains with a
pistol. Gordon was first brought to
public notice in the spring of 1872,
when the English stockholders ot
the Erie Railway Company, taking
advantage of tire death of Col. Fisk,
tried to gain possession of the road.
