Bus service expands
Shuttle system adds buses, express route
By MARY DIRKS
Special Writer
NT shuttle bus service began its second
year of operation Monday with two buses
and an expanded route.
“The main purpose of the shuttle buses
is to not have the student . . . spend extra
time walking to class,” Ben Day of the NT
Police Department said. “We know that the
student's time is important.”
PARKING FOR student-owned auto-
mobiles is free at Fouts Field and the bus
service includes a stop near the stadium
The shuttle buses also make stops near sev-
eral Denton apartment complexes. The fare
for one semester on the shuttle system is $10.
Buses will leave Fouts Field every half
hour from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday
through Friday. One bus will travel an ex-
press route from Fouts Field to Matthews
Hall and back to Fouts Field.
The second bus will alternate between an
apartment route and an express route. The
express route will go from Fouts Field to
the University Union and back to Fouts Field.
The apartment route will begin at Fouts
Field and stop at Stella Street at Avenue E,
Charlotte Street at Avenue H, Avenue H at
Hickory Street, Hickory Street near the Au-
ditorium Building, the University Union,
Highland Street at the Willis Library, and
end at Fouts Field
Fouts Field is located on the western edge
of the NT campus on Avenue E, between
Prairie Street and Eagle Drive.
The $10 shuttle pass lets students ride the
buses an unlimited number of times through-
out the semester.
BUSES HAVE heating and air con-
ditioning and are equipped with coin boxes
for students wishing to ride the shuttle with-
out purchasing the $10 pass. “If a student
wants to drive, he can park at Fouts Field
and ride to any stop for 25 cents,” Day
said. Bus drivers will not be able to make
change.
Shuttle passes are available at the Sullivant
Visitor Center, at Avenue E and Eagle Drive.
