Delinquent
Conduct
A juvenile may be
declared to have
engaged in delinquent
conduct if he or she has
violated a Texas
criminal law which is a
felony or class A or B
misdemeanor, or if he
or she has violated a
reasonable and lawful

In other words, if a
juvenile commits a
criminal act for which
he or she could be sent
to jail under the
criminal laws which
apply to adults, it is
considered to be
delinquent conduct.
Supervision
A juvenile can be
declared to be a child in
need of supervision for
the following behavior:
(1) Absence from
school without an
excuse for more than
ten days in six months
or three days in four
weeks; or
(2) Leaving home
without permission or
staying away from
home for a "substantial
length of time", or
(3) Breaking a law
three times (except
traffic laws) for which
an adult could be fined,
but not sent to jail; or
(4) Driving under the
influence of alcohol,
drugs, or sniffing
intoxicants.
