EARLE SMITHS
46 Years
This week looks like
about all facts just didn’t
have time to think. Of
course, that is not very
unusual for me;. Anyway
not much foolishness, so
will get on with the news:
Every home owner out
here, plus all camp
grounds, were overflowing
with holiday visitors.
Everybody seemed to be
having a great time. One
word of caution - rattle-
snakes are out again. Billy
Matthews (our Lake War-
den) killed a 56 inch rattler
the other day on the camp
ground - so do be alert
when out here.
Visitors in the Bob Hef-
ner home last weekend
were Mrs. J. C. Hefner,
Dick and Donna Wagner,
James, Kimberly and Ash-
ley Scott, Ronnie and Eliz-
abeth Scott, all from Cross
Plains.
Visitors in the Dago
Alexander home were Mrs.
H. C. Farmer from Archer
City, Shari Haygood, who

ther, Joshua (age 2V2) re-
turned home with Herb
and Darlene to spend the

Lon and Lorene Gray had
a busy weekend. Looked
like Grand Central Station

most homes out here).

I think most of Midland
spent the weekend at Lake
Coleman. To name just a
few: Murph and Oleta Hor-
ton, their lake home house-
guests were Bill and Nell
Blackman. Bob and Windy
Newstater were house-
guests of Harry and Gene-
vieve Libby in their lake
home. All are from Mid-
land. Paul and Mark Lutz,
who are in Lubbock going
to Tech were here.
Stella and Charlie Pick-
ens had a busy weekend.
Barbecue dinner with the
Harry Libbys on Satur-
day evening. Lunch with
the Murph Hortons Sun-
day. Sunday evening they
entertained with a dinner
party. Guests were Harry
and Genevieve Libby, Bob
and Windy Newstetter,
Paul Libby and Mark Lutz.
They all enjoyed a week-
end of “sail boating”.
Understand one fisher-
man had a real big catch -
turned out to be a sailboat.
The fisherman was trolling
when Bill Blackman and his
sail boat crew accidently
crossed the line - got
caught (hooked) - after a
little work they were freed
and the fisherman lost his
catch after ell.
Other Midland-ers here
were Corby and Janet
Considine and their chil-
dren, Kevin and Chris.
Their houseguests for the
weekend at their lake
home (Tranquility Base)
were Barry and Mary
Beck, Keith and Alexis,
Don and Kay Bishop, Brian
and Katherine, all from
Midland. Little note from
Corby Considine - “For
anyone who may have seen
me out running in the early
morning - I surely do
appreciate the waves and
horn honks. I’m training
for a marathon (26.2 miles)
and I ran about 14 miles
Saturday morning.” (Note
quote from Corby). Is that
the reason he is such a
handsome young man?
Suppose it would help me if
I spent alTftle time run-
ning?? No hope for me.
Weekend guests in the
John Chaney home were
Scott and Janice Mims
from San Angelo, John and
Becky Harper, and Mrs.
Dorota Chaney Jrom
Brownwopd, John, Brenda
and Jennifer Chaney from
Arlington, Mickey and
Karen Chaney from Abi-
lene.
Best wishes for a speedy
recovery to Bill Chaney -
planned to join the crowd
here but met with an
accident and spent his
weekend in the hospital,
with broken bones and
other injuries.
George and Anna Mae
Reynolds had a houseful
again for the holiday week-
end Jan^ and Bob Chap-
man, Chantel and David
from Plano, Donna and Jim
Smith, Warner and Leanna
from Lubbock, Ann Long
and daughter Sharon from
San Angelo, and son Rick
rReynolds from Austin.
J. B. and Sylvia Ashby
just returned from a long
vacation. They went to
Missoula, Montana where
they visited daughter and
family, Dorothy and Bob
Pugh and sons John and
William. Stopped, at Yose-
mite National Park. Visit-
ed relatives in Glendale,
Calif., on to San Diego to
visit an aunt and uncle, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Fuller. On
way home stopped in Phoei
nix, Ariz. to visit a niece
and her husband, Ann and
Ralph Fox. Sylvia said
temperatures were cool
and comfortable during
most of their trip until they
arrived in Phoenix - there
it was 114. Low early
Thursday morning was 85,
so cut short their stay
here. When they arrived
home, daughter and fam-
ily visited from Abi-
lene. They were Mary
and Dave Riley, children
Cindy and Steven.
Russell and Fae Atchley
of Andrews arrived at the
W. 0. Atchley home on
Wednesday of last week.
Thursday they all were in
Brownwood where they
attended the funeral of
Lewis A. Fowler, brother-
in-law of W. Dr*^tchley.
Sunday the W/ 0. AtcM^vs
were in Mineral Welt
where they visited daugh-
ter and family the Jim
Edingtons.
Don and Rose Posey
from Monahans were
weekenders at the Pat
Ramsey lake home. She
said she loves it out here
(as do the rest of us). And
they come out every
chance they get.
Jim and Margie Eaton of
Abilene spent the holidays
at their lake home. Their
houseguests were son
Randy and wife Paula, also
from Abilene; Paula’s
brother, Larry Chaney, his
wife Debbie and daughter
Kami from Midland, and
Mr. and Mrs. James Chan-
ey from Sweetwater.
Others enjoying the lake
for the weekend were Mr.
and Mrs. Alton Kidd, their
sons Lee and Barry and
their families, all of Brown-
wood, Mrs. Fleeta Kidd
from Coleman, Pauline
Resner from Gorman, and
Bobbie Straach from Cole
man. Another couple from
Midland I failed to get
their names. They enjoyed
camping and all the fun
things out here.
Would like to "Welcome
the Leo Duvalls" from Glen
Cove who recently pur-
chased a home at the lake.
Their place always looks
like grand central station
tqo. Haven’t had a chance
to visit and get names. I’ll
try next time.
Someone is really enjoy-
ing the lake.
Time to leave you with
this thought: Those who
bring sunshine to the lives
of others cannot keep it
